Outrun 2019 is a damn good racing game, and seems to be severely overlooked. I'd take it over the original F-Zero any day, at least.

Outrun 2019 is a damn good racing game, and seems to be severely overlooked. I'd take it over the original F-Zero any day, at least.
In the distant future year of 2019, we're going to be driving the Batmobile at 600 MPH on clear roads with ramps to jump off of! Or maybe we'll just have everyone walking blindly onto the roads with earpods, IDK. Either way, Outrun 2019 is a great new take on the Outrun formula of driving around for eight minutes or so, picking which road to go down at each fork along the way, and trying to not crash into stuff so that you don't run out of time before reaching the next checkpoint. The game looks amazing for its time. You have hills, tunnels, bridges, and all sorts of great environments. I love the way the distant backgrounds move along with your turns, and the roads that cross over each other still wow me even now... in Real 2019!
One thing that makes this game stand out compared to Outrun is the new power gauge, which gives us a boost when it fills up. Very useful for straightaways; something to be careful with when hitting a turn. All in all an excellent racing game, just as good as the original Outrun IMO. Except for the music. Got to admit, the original definitely has the better music.
