So Miles Morales crashed on me and now my Steam Deck won’t run it. It shows the opening logos and then it’s just a blank screen with the menu music playing in the background. Haven’t had any luck starting it even though other games seem fine. I’m going to try reinstalling it, fingers crossed.

Third time’s a charm and I’ve now played all three of the albums during Christmas dinner during the opening :-)

Eu realmente gostei deste jogo!

Astounded at how good this looks and how well it plays on Steam Deck. Running it at a refresh rate of 40 with matching frame rate and other than a few frame drops during cut scenes the game is super smooth. Love having a portable copy of this and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want Insomniac to …

I’m looking forward to turning a play-through of Spider-Man: Miles Morales into an annual holiday affair. I’ve played it every year since it launched and I dare say I’m eager to play it again this year. It has the perfect combination that makes it a no-brainer to play at that time of the year. It’s the perfect length, set at the holidays complete with snow and decorations, and features The Best Spider Man™️.

Conveniently, Sony‘s PC port of the game launches this Fall, and picking it up to play on Steam Deck seems like the perfect way to play it again.

Having unskippable cutscenes in New Game + is unacceptable. I just beat the game. I already know how it pans out. I just want my platinum trophy already. This wasn't done as much in the predecesspr so this is just ridiculous.

100% completing Miles Morales right after getting the platinum for the base game of its predecessor is a testanent to how new Miles Morales feels. People have said that it is a much more scaled back and I think that's what made it enjoyable. I wasn't as into the story as I was with Peter Parker's Spider-Man but it trims a lot of fat like the crimes and time capsules that I still wasn't as tired out like I nearly was with the previous game.

Miles Morales is a great character and his story is just as strong and meaningful as Peter's in the first game. While the length of the campaign is much shorter, there's still a lot of side content and fun to be had here. Plus, I played this on PS5 and load times were almost non-existent.

Replaying this on PS5 and I was about halfway through before the thought occurred to me: didn’t this game have subway transitions? They are completely gone on the PS5 and it took me a while to notice.

I very much appreciated that this was a smaller scope game. The story was just the right length and the set of gadgets was more limited and manageable. Yet the game still seemed very polished and had tons of recorded dialogue.

I wish more AAA title could take this path. My backlog would certainly welcome it.

It's nice to have an open-world game that lets me live out my latent completionist tendencies on a small scale. Usually in games these days, I'm skipping side content and collectibles because I have other things I want to do and all I care about is the main story.

It's nice to have an open-world game that lets me live out my latent completionist tendencies on a small scale. Usually in games these days, I'm skipping side content and collectibles because I have other things I want to do and all I care about is the main story.

In Marvel's Spider-Man (2018), I felt the opposite. Couldn't care less about the main story and missions, but had a pretty all right time swinging around and doing every collectible and side thing until I got tired of progressing the story somewhere in the second half.

This game bridges the gap, with more interesting story and characters, fun side missions, a manageable amount of collectibles, and a core movement mechanic that's still so fun that you want to do it all. Maybe I'm crazy, but the combat also feels better, with Miles's various abilities chaining together in an extremely satisfying way.

I'm at around 60% completion right now and definitely feeling a strong 4/5 rating for the game overall compared to a 3 for the last game. Since I never finished the rest of the Riddler trophies in Arkham City / Knight, this may end up being my first 100% completion for a AAA game since... (checks notes)... Assassins Creed II over a decade ago. Cool...

Sporting a flashier paint job than its predecessor in terms of gameplay mechanics, Miles Morales does just enough to stand on his own "8 legs" with interesting sidequests and a solid soundtrack; notwithstanding some rushed pacing in areas and a shallow plot device.
