Had some laughs

It's a rather simple game. Animations are cute and often funny. The game rewards you for experimentation beyond the objective scenario with interesting outcomes.

Main game can be completed rather quickly, but there is an optional stamp collection that challenges you a bit more, which I liked.

A funny and entertaining game. No masterpiece, and doesn't get as wacky and complex as it could, but still a fun diversion. I tried to make as many gay relationships as possible

I wanted to play Storyteller with my daughter because Jakub Dvorský suggested it to me but I was procrastinating it via Mario Wonder. Meanwhile, Storyteller appeared on Netflix. Another striking victory for capitalism! It immediately became our “waiting” game: on the plane, at the bus stop, outside dance school, while potatoes are cooking… We had so much fun, solving puzzles that leave you quite some freedom in how to solve them, enjoying those small animations that show the effects of your action, laughing our asses off for the humour, loving the second phase with the devil messing up things, getting frankly a bit bored in the third phase with the small missions but completing it anyway at 100%. A gem of a game.

This might be one of my favorite puzzle games I’ve played in a while! Not too hard and not too easy, it sits right in the sweet spot of making you scratch your head a little bit but the more ideas you try the more clear the correct path comes and it feels so awesome to get a storyline correct. I love the fairytale aspect of it because it is pulling from stories and tropes we are familiar with but then adding little twists here and there to surprise and keep the scenarios feeling fresh. I loved this so much and even made it a point to get all the stamps / achievements because I was having such a great time and didn’t want the experience to end!

A funny, sweet little game

I really enjoyed this game! It's so cute and charming, and the puzzles of putting the stories together really tickle the brain.

The puzzles aren't too difficult. There were a couple that stumped me for a bit, though never enough to make me feel like I should look up a guide.

The puzzles aren't too difficult. There were a couple that stumped me for a bit, though never enough to make me feel like I should look up a guide.

The little stories themselves can also be darkly funny: I enjoyed the humour.

For transparency I downloaded and played this for free on mobile because it comes with my Netflix subscription: I think paying full price for this could cause some people to feel like it's not worth it because the main gameplay is very short. That being said, once the main chapters are done there are even harder goals at the end with much less context, taking the puzzling to another much more difficult level. Completionists that enjoy these types of puzzles can enjoy that extra content.

Overall, super cozy with a bit of challenge. Definitely recommend!

I noticed this game at release and it seemed interesting but not worth the price. Well now it's on mobile and it's on Netflix and if you can grab it for no additional charge it's a fun couple of hours away from the holiday madness.

I like the concept and the presentation but there's not a lot here. Puzzles are either trivial or too obstuse and, as my girlfriend noticed, rather reprtiive. The same concepts are used and reused over and over again.

This is available on Netflix, so I tried this a bit with my girlfriend before. After a few levels she said "it's too repetitive; you can continue playing it without me".

"it was okay, but too short"

Within the first puzzle or two of this game, you start to get a sense that there is something there. Within the first puzzle or two of this game, you start to get a sense that there is something there. Almost in the same way that "A Little To the Left" features intuitive/hard to verbalize solutions, Storyteller features puzzles which are solved via story tropes which are hard to explain. I was trying to explain to my kids why this queen doesn't love the knight, and there isn't really an amazing answer. This isn't a critique! I like that Storyteller works on this level. This isn't a criticism I hold of Storyteller. I think this element is exciting and could lead to some really interesting puzzles. It just doesn't in Storyteller. Storyteller isn't too short. My daughter says "maybe there is no such thing a 'too anything'". I just don't feel like Storyteller fully explores its interesting mechanics. It feels like it is really getting going when it ends. I wish it were longer so that it could be better.

This is a fun, short (1-2hr) puzzle game whose design is just open-ended enough to make experimentation fun while not having an overwhelming number of possibilities. Some of its most fun moments are puzzles which on completion reveal a new secondary objective that makes you rethink the logic of the puzzle and arrive at an alternate solution that you never thought of. Even when you're just trying things out, the way the artwork responds to your constructed story makes it fun to play around and see what you can do. A couple of later puzzles did definitely require some leaps in logic that were unintuitive, but the small scope of each puzzle makes it hard to get too off-track. I'd say it's worth picking up on sale, at the very least.

A cute puzzle game that could use some more middle ground

This is a really fun idea for a game and (for the most part) it's well executed. I think all the gameplay is great, the way the panels convey information and react to your other choices works well. My big hangup is the difficulty spikes. It doesn't feel like there's a gradual progression, but more like pretty easy puzzles with very difficult ones randomly mixed in. Of course I may just be stupid! It also feels like a better knowledge of stories and fairy tales might have helped me out here.

Admittedly, I’ve become something of a ‘wishlist lurker’, getting most games in sales – but I remember playing the original Storyteller (a Flash game) back in the late ’00s and felt compelled to buy the updated version at launch to support the developer. Looking forward to playing it.

Is this supposed to be the entry for the new Annapurna joint? Info in it is a little confusing. Either way, this game is very short, sweet, and endearing! Fun little way to visualize storycrafting as a form of puzzle solving.
