Focusing on Ps2 games today. After investing hours into Cyberpunk 2077, i was left with nothing to show for it, despite the budget and size of the game; a vivid reminder that less is more. So I return to the classics.

A lot has been said about No One Lives Forever. Clearly inspired by the humor and late 60's vibes of Austin Powers, this Sierra/Fox game is an instant FPS classic comparable to Perfect Dark and Goldeneye 007.

I will be writing full reviews on my favorite games in the coming months with any luck so stay tuned.

Today is International Women's Day and I'm reminded of one of my favourite pieces of dialogue in all gaming.

This needs the GOG treatment, couldn’t rebind the controls so I just dropped it. And that’s after applying a fan patch and following the PCGamingWiki instructions. I could feel there’s something special about it just by the opening and the training area. Hopefully we’ll see it rereleased.

I was blown away when Archer argues with a guy who says that "women liberation is all about women becoming men" and she retorts with "women liberation is all about women becoming whatever they want". My face when hearing that line of dialogue in this profoundly silly game 🤯️.

Also, this is an example of a conversation you can overhear while stealthing around.

Some youtube video reminded me of this game's existence. I remember getting the demo on one of those magazines that came with a CD filled with demos and playing it over and over again.

I want to play it!

I never liked FPS games, gave me headaches and just...I dunno, just never really clicked with me. But this is one of the exceptions that eventually led me to becoming more open to the FPS genre as a whole. It's a brilliantly funny parody of spy movies and has fun, creative levels. The sneaking levels that auto-fail you on detection can be a bit annoying but with some practice can be passed without too much frustration. Driving vehicles is also finicky but otherwise the game largely plays very well. The gadgets are funny and eavesdropping on enemy conversations can reveal some of the funniest jokes in the game. The soundtrack is great. Everything from the atmosphere to the story, graphics and sound, it all comes together in almost perfect harmony. If only it wasn't tangled in a legal web of multiple companies preventing a remaster from being released.
