I think this might be my favorite of the old-school Castlevania games. Outside of one of the later bosses, I didn't feel like the difficulty was frustrating unlike a lot of the other games I've played. Belmont's Revenge fixes a lot of the issues I had with The Adventure such as Chris's movement speed, Chris downgrading his whip on every hit, and the performance (The Adventure would flicker and lag). One of my favorite parts of this game are the subweapons. There's only 2 in this game, but they also have special uses outside of using them for battle. Castlevania 2 kind of had something similar, but it was a bit tedious in that game. Levels were a bit long, but I liked how they were designed and I liked that there was a stage select akin to Mega Man. Pleasantly surprised with this game.

AVGN voice: The final boss is ass!!! Damn Dracula, where did he get all those flying soccer balls from? I can't be arsed to memorize the exact spot to stand on the screen for every spot he launches them all from!
