I’m having a really fun time with it, and the only trouble I’ve had so far is with the boss, Cortez! The additional phases really messed with me… It felt like I was really in danger, not even the Crystal Stars were helping me. Luckily, Goombella helped me clutch the victory with well-timed Multibonks! It was a true test of skill and I loved it in the end. Anyways, hope to play and see this game to the end. Woohoo!

This is a game I’m looking forward to playing and completing! I played Paper Mario (64) when it came to the eshop on Wii U in 2015 and had a blast with it so I’m going into this one with high expectations! :D

Just finishing up the main story now wow what a game. The music, the battles, the areas, the characters are all amazingly designed. Aside from chapter 2 I could not put the game down. Such a great RPG!

Remake!! Excited because either 1. this will address a lot of the slogging/backtracking game play that (to ME) prevents this game from being truly great, OR 2. it stays the same and at least SOME people's nostalgia goggles will be forcibly ripped off, causing my origami king defense squad to grow tenfold. Either way I'm stoked.

Go east to the stump. Go back to the item shop. Go BACK to the stump and keep going through a bunch of very annoying enemy encounters until you hit creepy steeple. Complete a very short dungeon. Walk ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE MAYOR. Do one quick task that reveals the item you need is at CREEPY STEEPLE. WHERE YOU JUST WERE. Walk there AGAIN and uncover the answer you need. Where do you use that answer? THE SHED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE LEVEL. WALK BACK. Use the answer that's supposed to trigger a fight with the bad guy. Does it trigger a fight? No he runs away. Where does he run away to? C R E E P Y S T E E P L E. WHERE I J U S T W A S. This is insane. This is an insane way to design a level and every level in this game is designed like this. I am baffled.

I am trying to re-enter this with an open mind but right out the gate it is REALLY bothering me that they took away my spin dash. Why would they do that. Finished chapter 3. It was wonderful.

The characters really shined here. Flurrie, Punio and the Shadow Sirens were all highlights. Even tho Flurrie as fighter isn't very useful thus far, I really like her design and personality. She reminded me of a drag, which was interesting.

The mechanics and puzzles were fun. The puzzles revolved around the 101 Puni, which was hilarious and annoying. It was frustrating to find out you left behind a couple of Punis, but it was also kinda entertaining to see how much I fucked up and abandoned them. Also, the "fights" with the Jabbi were fun to watch, and also frustrating, cause I went directly to the one with 100 Jabbis, and kept losing for obvious reasons lmao. Eventually. I figured it out, thank god.

Overall, really solid chapter with great characters and hilarious moments.

I did like the whole thing with Koops and his father disappearance. It felt really mature, which is refreshing in a Mario game. I just wished he was actually dead and gave Koops an emotional moment. Instead, they gave him an "emotional" scene with a corpse, which then turns into a comedic moment. So it feels kinda cheap lol. Still, really liked the story of Koops.

Something that I found hilarious was Ms. Mows appearance. She was really charming, and I love how she's not afraid to wear her little kitten heels lmao. She's fierce and she is the moment.

Lastly, I'm so pumped about Peach's side of the story. Really excited to see how TEC is going to develop and help her. Really love the storyline they're setting up.

PD: who tf had the idea to give Hooktail a feet kink? I laughed so hard when I saw the dialogue

I'm already at chapter 2. I'll try to make an update every chapter. So far, I'm having fun. Not crazy about the visuals, since it's obviously a really old game, but it holds up really well (I wish I could install the HD texture pack). I'm a fan of the art-style tho. Can't wait for the story to unfold and see if this is truly such an awesome game, which it probably is.

Just now I spent the past 5 hours in the Pit of 100 Trials, trying to beat it before chapter 3, and I died on the 99th floor. -_-

The battle system is so addictive. Honestly for me I think this game aged better than when I was a kid, cuz looking back at my old save file and the badges I have equipped there, I had no good sense of strategy back then.

However as a kid, there was a thrill in a JRPG's seeming impossibility due to my poor sense of strategy -- I'd be stuck on a part for months (if not years), and doing the pit of 100 trials early-ish is helping to recreate that feeling

lol, I meant for this to be a playthrough of TTYD, but I guess the pit turned out to be more exciting for its difficulty since so far the main campaign has been a cake walk, and I've been trying this pit for the past 3 days.
Maybe I should start over and consider a more specific challenge run (and not just "upgrade BP only").

Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door is still considered one of the best games from the Paper Mario series, and with good reason :). This game just oozes personality and style, one can only hope that they one day either remaster it or bring it to the Switch xD

I just finished the section where Mario becomes a wrestler named the Great Gonzales, and it's one of my favorite things in any game ever.

It’s a shame that they Changed the formula for the series after this game. Hopefully there will be a new Paper Mario game on the Switch eventually.

I’ve always heard that this game is the perfect sequel and that it improves upon the original in every way. After playing for a bit myself (I’m on chapter 7), I’m not really convinced. I kind of feel like people are embellishing on the improvements a bit too much, but it’s still a fun game. Oh, and I could be imagining this, but I feel like there are a lot of points where they make you go back and forth all over the map, which wouldn’t be a problem if the fast travel were accessible earlier and if the pipe locations were more convenient.
