A remake version of the Super Famicom game Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together, released on PlayStation Portable. The North American and European versions keep the original Title: "Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together". The PSP remake presents several changes compared to the previous releases. New characters and events are included, and the script has been re-translated. Most importantly, the remake severely downplays the effects of a character's death in battle, giving players extra opportunities to keep characters alive even if their hit points have been reduced to zero in battle. The previous releases permanently eliminated characters once their hit points had been reduced to zero in battle. The remake also adds a crafting system and completely revamps the experience system, giving experience to all the party members after a battle, instead of giving it to single party members after executing individual actions Less

I played the Super Famicom version years ago and decided to revisit this relatively newer version. Very much worth it if you're a fan of the game. The World system and Coda segments were very enjoyable.

Just beat my first playthrough. Some thoughts:

+I really enjoyed the story and characters. They seemed to have clearly defined motivations.

+Class levels are a neat idea. You don’t have to worry about new characters being underleveled if you assign them to a class you’ve already leveled up.

+Choices actually matter. Not only do they matter, it isn’t immediately obvious what decision you should make like it is in other games. The different routes add replayability.

+A ton of classes to choose from. Offers freedom with how to create your party.

+Weather system seems neat. Different times of the year will have different weather, which will affect the map layouts.

-I hate the camera. You got 2 variations of top-down and 1 isometric view. I would’ve preferred being able to rotate the stage like in FFT.

-Game is super grindy. Levels determine what items you can equip and what skills you can use. Not only do you have to level up your classes, you also have to get SP to unlock skills. And even when you get a skill, you might have to level up the skills themselves. It’s like a worse version of FF2’s progression system because you have …

-Game is super grindy. Levels determine what items you can equip and what skills you can use. Not only do you have to level up your classes, you also have to get SP to unlock skills. And even when you get a skill, you might have to level up the skills themselves. It’s like a worse version of FF2’s progression system because you have to unlock the skill and equip it before proficiency with it increases. This problem is exacerbated by how long it actually takes to level up skills.

-Game seems less customizable than FFT. I was hoping to unlock a skill from one class to be able to use it as another class, but that doesn’t seem to be possible for the most part.

-Class marks add inconvenience to changing classes. I would’ve preferred free changing like in FFT.

-Story battles are pretty brutal at times. It’s common to see the enemy outnumber you and have insane terrain advantage. A lot of the game is getting bombarded by archers as you slowly try to make your way to them. A pretty decent strategy is to stay at where you spawned and have the enemies slowly approach you so you can handle a few enemies at once.

-Some of the side quests are a bit too well hidden. Some of the requirements to start or continue a quest are obscure, which is particularly annoying when there is a tight window for participating in the quest.

-Guest character AI is absolutely horrendous. They will do everything in their power to prevent you from saving them.

-A bit confusing what classes can and can’t do. For example, even if a class can use divine magic, that doesn’t mean that they will be able to use all of the divine magic spells. The same goes for equips, which just adds more confusion.

-Movement seems worse across the board in comparison to FFT. Classes have less movement in general, there’s no equips that improve movement, there are enemy auras that impede movement, and the level design makes it harder to get around.

I enjoyed my playthrough of the game, but I still enjoy FFT more. Im still debating whether I want to do the post-game or if I want to stop since I saw the credits. I’m still enjoying myself, but it’s a long game.

I have mixed feelings with the game so far. Part of me feels like this is the best SRPG I've ever played and the other part is just frustrated with some mechanics. I think if I played this game in high school, this would be my favorite SRPG, but since what I want in a game in 2022 is different from what I wanted in high school I just start getting stressed. My tendency to try to avoid any optional battles as much as I can is making this game way harder than it has to be, so I think I'm going to try to be more lax and try to do some grinding so that I'm not getting slapped around as much. I'm at about 20-30 hours of gameplay and I still feel like I'm only scratching the surface of what this game has to offer. Oh yeah, story and characters are great too.

Pretty darn upset. Spoilers for Chaos Route Chapter 2 So I get to the Vyce fight and I'm surprised by the first 1v1 fight in the game. I'm thinking to myself okay it probably won't be bad if it's a story battle. Vyce is one level higher than me, is faster than me to the point that he can act twice, he does around 30-50ish damage (depends on my class) while I do less than 10, he has finishing moves while I don't have a single one despite using the same weapons since the beginning of the game, and he has more health than me. This fight is way worse than any of the 1v1s in FFT by a wide margin. I'm at the point where I have to grind for SP and that irks me to no end. The suggestions I'm reading online is basically telling me I need to use a different class and use skills I didn't learn on Denam.

Lost my physical copy so now I'm playing an emulated version. Still, one of the best games of all time. Neutral route playthrough for my first time, now on chapter II (L).

Excellent game, with another amazing story by Yasumi Matsuno, unforgettable character design by Akihiko Yoshida and Hiroshi Minagawa and Tsubasa Masao, with a great soundtrack by Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata. It's like the dream team! I'd guess I'm about a third the way through Chapter 4 after playing the Law Chapters 2 and 3. Even though I spoiled, the localization by the same team that did FFT:WOTL, FF12, and (I think) FF14 just keeps delivering great scenes. Note to self: must try the One Vision mod for a different experience.

One of my all time favorite games. I cant count the amount of times I played the original on PS1, and this remake is so well done, even if it does away with a few things I loved about the original, everything it adds more than makes up for it I'm playing the one vision mod right now, which so far is awesome.

The English localization (psp version) is just great so far. Of the same caliber as FFXII or even better. This game <3

Everything I dreamed of and more. Harder than the PSX FFT (less forgiving), and story already feels darker and more complex.
