Civilization VI is a 4X turn-based strategy game in which players guide a civilization from its founding as a small settlement through multiple eras of development. Players explore a procedurally generated map, found cities, research technologies, develop culture, engage in diplomacy, and compete against AI or human opponents to achieve victory through military dominance, scientific advancement, cultural influence, religious conversion, or diplomatic consensus. A key design change from its predecessor is the "unstacking" of cities, requiring players to place districts on surrounding tiles rather than stacking all improvements in the city center, making terrain and geography central to strategic planning. The game received two major expansions, Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm, which introduced mechanics like city loyalty, golden/dark ages, climate change, and natural disasters. It was succeeded by Civilization VII in 2025. Read less

I went to replay this on PS5 and took way too long to realize they removed flipping cities via cultural influence in 6. That's my favorite way to play so I'm a bit disappointed. I'll probably come back to this eventually once my backlog is lower and I'm feeling like starting a holy war.

Yesterday, I spent 5 hours continuing a hot seat duel match with my father in law.

While the experience was dulled by teaching the game as well as user interface difficulty, it was a wonderful experience.Unemployment has irreplaceable charm at times.

I hope for a day with two things; playing on separate rigs and turning barbarians OFF. In spite of my experience since Civ 2, I am losing.

Is Civilization VI on the Switch worth it? It's constantly on sale to a price around $10, but I fear the performance will be crap. However, my PC is a potato, so I'd rather not buy it on Steam.

Played with all mods except for New Frontiers pass. Exceptional game with the addictive "just one more turn" quality to it. The new additions like natural disasters, diplomacy objectives and governors really mix things up compared to Civ V.

I honestly could keep playing but uninstalled the game because it was killing my time (in a satisfyingly bad way).

I'm 200 turns into a 500 turn campaign and I'm addicted! It's one of those "just one more turn!" games. I don't know if I'm even playing "properly" and if I'm close to disaster or victory or what!

War broke out for a while and I made peace and then so did everyone else. Why? Dunno. But I love the …

War broke out for a while and I made peace and then so did everyone else. Why? Dunno. But I love the jeopardy.

Will I want to play again when this finishes, not sure. It's a time sink. But I'm so glad this game "clicked" with me after a very confusing start.

Gods, you know a game is complicated when you get lost in the tutorial!

I haven't played Civ before and not a lot of games like it, so I'll persevere in the hope it will just click at some point. But it's a lot to take in.

I just bought Civ 6, Wheel of Fortune and Final Fantasy 7 in the Switch Christmas sale. None of these were on my wishlist and I have a dozen games in my backlog.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I'm just gonna go on and say it: this game is great. I know it sucks how they seem to be trying to steal your money with some ridiculously overpriced DLC, and I know this installment in the series doesn't improve the previous one as much as many people hoped, myself included, but that doesn't stop me from having the time of my life playing this game.

Do I think it's flawless? Absolutely not. Did I expect a little more? Yes, maybe. Is it a good game? HELL YEAH!

Man, I freaking love this game. Just finished a Roman campaign and got my first cultural victory. I think the only thing I dislike about it is how freaking convoluted it is. I'm constantly on my phone trying to figure out what stuff does and how to do the things I want to do. Also, the AI needs to be fixed in this edition. The other leaders are just constantly yelling at you for playing the game.

Really enjoying the new modes being added in - definitely enjoyed hidden societies. Also the new civs. I'm writing this soon after the babylon pack came out, along with the heroes pack. Next game I want to play is using those two aspects!

Great installment in the Civ franchise, only missing the the New Frontier Pass. Will wait until it's all done and buy it when it goes on sale
