Voto 8/10
It has its very high ups, and some downs, and if it were possible I'd add half star to this rating. It's a 'feel good game', with your travel and adventures, but I think the peak of the journey is not, unfortunately, in the end, but a few worlds before that. The sense of amazement/spectacle is lost after the Phantom battle, which leads to a not "that" exciting trip anymore. And the exploration and puzzles doesn't help at all. Those are the worst no doubt.
I really have nothing critical to say about Mario + Rabbids other than I wanted more. I thought I was going to really love this game during the first 2 worlds, but unfortunately the variety and difficulty didn't increase in the way that I wanted it to and I was just left slowly playing through fun, but similar, levels and puzzles to beat the game.
If they do another I'd want more weapon/power variety, more difficult puzzles and more varied environments.
I did love the variety of the bosses, but wish I was forced to change up my squad to actually have success.
The tone of the game was spot on and I think they hit the right mix of comedy.
Well the title says it all really. Surprisingly great game.
X-Com-like battles, very nice graphics, awesome soundtrack, nice puzzle elements and very challenging battles after you've beaten the main game. Having Luigi shoot an enemy with a sniper rifle is just the icing on the cake. What's not to like?
Would fall in love with Rabbid Peach anytime again.
Fun game with lots of room for small QoL improvements (which I understand the second game has). I could have done without all the silly puzzles and backtracking.
Lots of tough battles. I don't like that often it feels like you have no way to fully defend yourself (e.g. when a character can "draw" you out no matter how well you hid yourself).
Overall a pretty solid offering that I'd recommend if you like this tactics style of gameplay.
Managed to finish this last weekend which I didn't plan at the start of the month. It's a very welcome achievement though.
In the process, I realized that I really do enjoy games better when I'm playing without consulting guides. So I guess to achieve that for games that I care a lot about, it would help to play them during release so no complete guides are available yet. That or completely disconnect from the world as I did when I was a child but that's kinda hard to achieve now as an adult with work and other responsibilities.
As for games that I don't care very strongly about, I guess I should just try to not rush finishing them. It probably would help if I don't start playing one when an anticipated game is coming out shortly. It probably would also help not making a purchase whenever something is on sale even if I'm just mildly curious about it.
Although I am not a big Mario fan (and by that I mean I don’t seek out Mario games and I simply am open to playing them when they are there), I am finding this game entertaining. I definitely see the appeal with its humor and what the Mario world has to offer. I have an issue again with the camera angles and camera movement as it leaves me with a headache after playing for some time, but this has been a reoccurring problem now with a variety of games. It’s kinda fufilling being able to try all sorts of games as it helps me realize what I really like, and now I can better stop myself from buying stuff just because they’re on sale and I’ve read good stuff about them though the genre is something I don’t enjoy.
12/31/2020 Playing for a long time, not sure where I am at. Need to focus and finish this.
I went back to play the DK Adventure DLC, and really enjoyed it. I think some space between playing the original and the dlc was good, because only having three characters to choose from didn’t allow quite the same variety as before, but still worth picking up and playing.
I just started the Donkey Kong DLC, and I'm loving the music. Takes me back to DK64, but I'm actually playing a good game.
So I just beat Mario & Rabbids Kingdom Battle. What a fun game! Colourful and vibrant, with a solid battle system. Dare I say, we even got more story and character development than a regular Mario game!
It's not easy to explain because Rabbids are crude and vulgar and yet, this total mismatch by putting them in the Mario universe is precisely what gave it life! The rabbids shenanigans show us a unique perspective that we wouldn't normally get. It's slapstick, it's parody, it's Mario's nipples. It's a weirdly refreshing take that I'm actually a bit sad is over.
Continuing to really enjoy this one! The DK DLC has such fun environments; the art is wonderful.
Since I'm moving, I've been getting rid of a lot of old stuff (D&D books, old consoles, etc.) and I managed to save up enough to get a Switch and this game was on sale at Wal-Mart, so I picked it up until Super Smash Brothers Ultimate comes in on Thursday. I think it's pretty interesting so far.
It's weird, but, that's to be expected. I'm conflicted because I truly think the rabbids are stupid, and I am not one of the people who finds Rabbid Peach endearing (I will admit, I sometimes choose where to put some characters in tactical situations just to encourage Rabbid Peach to take extra damage). However, the gameplay is still good, and just another shining example of why the only consoles I buy anymore are Nintendo.
Interestingly, I do kinda like Rabbid Luigi (despite my general hatred of the non-Rabbid version of Luigi).
finished the story mode last night (not 100% yet but i'm working on it) and... i think i really dig this game
it's surprisingly difficult compared to what i was expecting, and i don't know that i'll pick it back up after i 100% the base game (and the dlc later when i play that) but until then i've been having a good time :3
only real complaints so far is that you still can't take mario off your team (which i understand for story reasons but makes some maps kinda frustrating) and that some of the maps have really weird difficulty spikes (im looking at you world 2 boss)
i'd been meaning to try this one for a while now since a handful of my friends said surprisingly good things about it!
i'm a couple hours in now and i'm having a really fun time? i've got a couple nitpicks but they're just that, nitpicks. like i wish i could take mario off my party, for one :(
but also peach has a shotgun in this and im never gonna stop laughing
