  • Hybrid between shump (vibe, manual firing) and vampire-survivor clone (upgrades, game structure)
  • Impressive amount of weapon, shield and ship options
  • Cool looking bosses
  • Some weapons feel impractical without the right build (I dont have the right build)
  • Controls feel very imprecise and floaty (left/right to turn, trigger to thrust)

Genuinely awed by just how much I resonate with this game. I've always loved this approach to progression, where to pass a stage the player isn't necessarily required to level up in power, but more so understand the mechanics of the game. Understand patterns and mod combinations, incentivising you to play over and over cause trial and error is the only way you're going to break through that frustrating boss battle. It's brilliant. Nova drift manages to throw something new into the mix at the very moment you feel you've finally figure it out, consistently challenging you to reassess your play style in an attempt to find a build more effective, it's fucking addictive. Def recommend
