Modern day Assault Suits Valken/Gundam-Inspired 2D Mecha-Shooter.

This is basically a modern revamp of Assault Suits Valken series of "Rolling-shooter" games where you walk as you shoot. Controls have been improved since then, because you now have two joysticks (I actually played this with mouse and keyboard on PC and like it that way over a controller. Shoot me)

This is basically a modern revamp of Assault Suits Valken series of "Rolling-shooter" games where you walk as you shoot. Controls have been improved since then, because you now have two joysticks (I actually played this with mouse and keyboard on PC and like it that way over a controller. Shoot me)

I'd venture to say this probably ideally played on the Switch, due to its control design.

enter image description here you're shooting and flying at lots of stuff. you can do melee attacks and different moves. It's a bit fast paced and hectic and quite fun. Teh shooting is great. Dodging is fun. Boss fights are cool. And you get upgrades and a customizable weapon loadout all very similar to Cybernator

Also similarly to Cybernator, you get out of your mobile suit to look at computers and unlock doors. There was a level that feels like a Metal Gear-inspired sneak-around, and one where you pilot a massive Frigate laden down with guns. Not my favorite bits of the game but the mix up in gameplay was nice. enter image description here I want to play a Warhammer40k SHMUP like this^

I enjoyed the game it doesn't fail to deliver fun running around gunning at things and flying around dodging return fire. enter image description here It's really fun to pick up weapons and try them out to see what they do, then unlock the ones you like through R&D. This game has nice guns

The story and plot is not so great and partly due to translation and told through VN like cutscenes. (The story is also very space-opera and political in the same vein as that of Gundam or BattleTech... Cool but how invested can you be in a 6-8 hour game?) The art is quite good the most part. But the smooth animations of sprites made from illustrator (maybe?) feels too much like a mobile game as you play and doesn't have the 16-bit charm of it's predecessor. Personal preference and prior expectations maybe.

enter image description here While I didn't really like or get into the dialogue of these cutscenes i loved the art in them and thought it was impressive at times.

Would I recommend this? Hmm, well its short, its not very substantial. The shooting is good and you can replay the levels and grind them for resources to unlock more stuff. It's similar to 20XX and other shooting games, and it's based on Assault Suits Volken as i mentioned. You'll enjoy it more if you're in the target audience, but it doesn't really stand out otherwise more than a mediocre shooting game.

This is better than it looks on the surface. The different weapons you can unlock in this game are actually quite cool. It's essentially a Cybernator-clone with some modern updates. It's got the same Gundam/Battletech type setting. The format didnt age that great but it's still fun to shoot at things this way. enter image description here
