This is a fine, three-star tactical fighting game. It's biggest weakness, in my mind, is that I never fully understood all of the features in play or there were features were often pointless. The 2D perspective is somewhat limiting in a genre where you usually get 3D isometric. Still, the rules are the rules for everyone so it works. There's a decent variety of choice in what soldiers you can select and the game does a better job of associating choices with costs.
I gave it an extra star because of the setting; a medieval illuminated manuscript where the armies consist of animal-like doodles often found as marginalia in those manuscripts. The setup was nice and was true to the source with flatulent humor. Worth playing more if you appreciate the homage to history than as a tactical fighting game.
