This is such a great game! Why?

  • 7 great tracks
  • never boring due to changing weather conditions and changing wave height
  • its strategic, as you can choose where to deliberately miss the buoys
  • its challenging but never unfair
  • the water just feels great

The menu theme will always live rent-free in my brain. My favorite character was (IIRC) Nigel Carver, who specialized in turning/maneuverability. Landing backflips and barrel rolls always felt great.

Pretty good racing game

Wave race blue storm may be pretty basic in its design, but it’s a nice break from the difficulty of f-zero and the unfair nature of Mario Kart. It’s not the best on the system, but it’s still something I would recommend picking up.

11/18/2001: Wave Race: Blue Storm

A two-faced game of sick visuals, killer tunes, and wild, slippery controls. There is fun to be had with Blue Storm, but one can’t help but wish that Nintendo had taken a bit more time to tighten up the control scheme and the rubberband AI. 3/5 stars. #GameCubeRewind
