Just like his Phantom Thieves, ATLUS isn't missing a beat and, against all odds, Persona 5 Tactica has proven to be a solid and enjoyable tactician. Despite P-Studio's inexperience with the aforementioned gaming genre, the combat system seemed functional and profound, also thanks to the numerous mechanics borrowed from the saga and expertly grafted onto the new formula. If you loved the atmosphere, the dynamics and above all the protagonists of the original, put aside any skepticism due to the change of look and let your heart be stolen once again by the amazing Phantom Thieves.

So someone at Atlus played a lot of Splatoon before they decided on the theming for the DLC, didn't they? So someone at Atlus played a lot of Splatoon before they decided on the theming for the DLC, didn't they? I had enough fun with the base game that I'm glad I bought it, but much like Persona 5 Strikers, I think this is a perfectly alright game carried to pretty darn good, by the residual charm the presentation, characters, and music of Persona 5 bring over by default. Getting to see the Phantom Thieves hang out, bounce off one another, and kill god again always brings a goofy smile to my face. And just like in Strikers the new characters are solid, definitely work for this game, but aren't ever going to hold a spot in my heart like the OGs. But the tactics gameplay, while complex and interesting enough to carry a first playthrough, is limited enough in customization that I have no desire to run through again. I'd definitely still recommend it for fans of Persona 5 but anyone else this is an easy pass.

As much as I adore Persona 5, I really wanted this game to be the final spin-off of P5 before we get Persona 6. I was expecting this to be a good time and after playing 3 hours of it...

I dunno about this one. Doesn't seem to really hit. The writing feels so flat to me. P5 Tactica's theme of revolution is so shallow with barely any nuances what so ever. P5 Tactica feels like it's saying nothing to me. Persona 5 may not have been perfect with what it was trying to say and Royal was so good with its message in the third semester, but there were nuances throughout the game that question the Phantom Thieves' morality. Character writing so far doesn't hit with me here either. A technical issue I noticed was the audio mixing was inconsistent, with Toshiro's voice lines being too quiet compared to the others. Despite the actors still going at it for nearly 7 years, the dub really isn't as good as other P5 games. It's fine, but the vocal direction wasn't there.

Even though I have not played any tactics games, I like the combat though. I suppose that will keep me playing

Don't like the art style on this, but it's reviewing well and coming straight to Game Pass, so guess I'll try it out. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finished the behemoth Persona 5 and was pretty much done and satisfied with that universe already. Didn't need any more, so I've skipped the other spin-offs that didn't really look appealing to me anyway, but this one actually looks more fun from a gameplay perspective so we'll see.

edit: Tried it out and yeaah just not really feeling it. I’m happy just waiting for Persona 3’s remake for my next Persona fix.
