Absurdist art, laid-back and silly humor, "touch" controls for battle moves... These features distinguished the game enough to warrant a place on my bucket list.

The bounty hunter, Leon, rescues a princess and sets out across the bizarre realm they live in to overcome whimsical obstacles and slay weirder creatures. The story mode is divided into turn-based, battle stages where you take on enemies coming in waves.

If you play it on PC, the main control will be your mouse because Fearless Fantasy showcases the touch controls that will affect the performance of your character's move and defense. If you haven't already played "osu", I'll tell you that you are required to follow timed patterns unique to each type of move you or the enemies make. Normally, this core gameplay would be fitting for touch screen platforms but when it comes to PC, it's not particularly mouse-friendly when the patterns move haphazardly around the screen for you with particular moves. Not only dependent on the RPG mechanics, your mouse reaction skills will be the main deciding factor on the outcome of the battle but here, there can be unfair moments until you "get it right".

At least the game is forgiving enough to reward you exp and gold for the enemies you've defeated, even if you lost the battle, allowing you to upgrade your party build and inventory for the following battles. I made through the whole story in 3 hours with normal difficulty level on all stages and appreciate the game for its charming characters (King Xola's voice actor takes the cake), the style design, the unusual battle system and for not taking itself seriously. I would recommend you get this on your mobile phone but if you insist on going for this on your PC, a purchase on sale would be advisable.

Shame about the swiping

Would i recommend this on PC? No. Would i recommend this on mobile/tablet? Probably.

The dialogue is shockingly amusing ("i only lost because i have a hole in my sock") and it has some really weird enemies. It's just that swiping is incredibly uncomfortable with a mouse. If this has pretty much any other control mechanism i definitely might like …
