Fun in small bursts but couldn't maintain momentum. Tried to join with a mate but the game would never connect for some reason. Would have added some more longevity to the game.

I originally played this game I believe in 2023 and beat the amount of the game that existed at the time. Within the past month, I played it again for about an hour, and to be fair these thoughts are only from an hour so it's not a great understanding of the game, but I don't like it as much as I remembered. Something about it just feels clunky, things dont really have impact and punch, and I feel like it is a little too chaotic, especially for only the beginning stages. In the end though, the guns are pretty cool and I like the vibe, but something just feels off. I might come back again and give it a try since I remember really liking it in 2023 and it seemingly has only gotten better, so maybe I just wasn't feeling it when I tried it recently. I'd say now I would bump it down from like an 8 to a 7.

Rogue-like shooter? I'm in!

I'll be brief. Great music from Noisecream (actually, that was the first reason why I bought the game, lol), a pretty driving gameplay, a very good variety of builds,

BUT in 80% of cases I got a successful run with only one build... I don't know about the other players, but it seems to me that the balance is slightly …

BUT in 80% of cases I got a successful run with only one build... I don't know about the other players, but it seems to me that the balance is slightly broken, there are definitely good guns and definitely bad ones.

Anyway, recommend to play, if you like rogue-likes!

A Tight, Fast Paced Roguelite

87/100

Roboquest, at its peak, is a terrific game. The guns feel terrific to shoot, the art style is gorgeous, the boss battles and smaller encounters alike feel great, and the different classes and difficulties add some nice reply value.

Pros:

  • Gun variety is great!
  • Enemy and area variety is also great!
  • Solid class and playstyle variety

Pros:

  • Gun variety is great!
  • Enemy and area variety is also great!
  • Solid class and playstyle variety
  • The visuals are great and are generally uncluttered

Cons:

  • I don't really like the metaprogression; adds extra grind before you're playing the "real" game
  • Optimal strategy often involves running in circles
  • Difficulty options lean heavily on giving enemies tons of extra HP

I got a solid 22 hours out of the game, and it's still fun to periodically load a run up.

Pium-pium, bam-bam.

I really love the concept of a rogue-like FPS but there was nothing incredibly gripping about this game that kept me going back. The early loot drops are plentiful, varying up the playstyles but the enemies and game world were fairly bland.

If you like first-person shooters, you will have an absolute blast with Roboquest. The game scratches the itch for a satisfying and active shooter in a way that few other titles manage, and you can expect to spend hours just ducking back in for another round of shooting and jumping in the hopes of reaching the end this time.
