As beautiful and fun as this DLC was there are things about the gameplay that are very frustrating. You seemingly cant draw back your bow and fire a shot at an enemy even with concentration slowing down time in between enemy attacks. This seemed to be a consistent issue on any difficulty above easy. To get smacked around so frequently even when perfectly dodging. Sometimes you can't even get time to drink a potion. I didn't expect this to change with DLC, but hoped new enemy types may have a move set that allows for play styles that don't rely purely on shooting enemies from around 200 m away.
Aside from my gripe the it was a great experience with tons of fun exploration and a lot more time learning about the Quen tribe which felt a little neglected in the base game. The final set of missions is unlike anything experienced in the base game and really is the highlight of the DLC. It is pretty short. Easy …

Easy to complete the main quest in around 5 hours or so and side stuff can take a bit more to fully experience.
Burning Shores is the DLC expansion to Horizon Forbidden West. While the DLC we got for the first Horizon game took us into snowy mountains, this one goes the opposite and pits us on a tropical islands with a volcano. Once again, Guerilla Games really knocks it out of the park. If you enjoyed Forbidden West, this is pretty much more of that but instead of expanding and making everything more and bigger, they scope things down a bit from the main game. In my opinion, this makes the experience much more enjoyable and I hope to see something like this for the next iteration we get. While Forbidden West was a fantastic game, it's very easy to become overwhelmed when you open up the map and see the size and density with so many icons popping up for different activities. In the Burning Shores DLC, you are given a smaller (but not too small) map, and not as much bloat just to pad the play time. The characters introduced in the DLC all feel great, and bring about some fantastic interactions with Aloy making her not feel as cardboard cut out as she did in the main game. The …

The absolute final boss fight of this DLC was a little bit of a let down, but that may be due to the fight right before them being one of the best fights in the Horizon series thus far. If you enjoyed the main game of Forbidden West at all, this is a no brainer to pick up.
