After reaching level 40 in TERA: Rising (60 being the level cap) in 4 days (playtime of 55 hours [61 hours across all characters]) while taking 5 courses, one of which being a 13 hour lab course (6 and a half hours per day, twice a week), and missing dinner (and gym) thrice during that same stretch of time, I have realized that I really need to stop playing the game, if only to get back to a non-destructive lifestyle. Moreover, the MMORPG model just doesn't work for me beyond a particular level. At the end of the day, every MMORPG becomes a grind fest, replete with 'kill y number of x' missions for z experience points. Moreover, the social aspect of MMORPGs doesn't appeal to me, since I prefer to play solo for the majority of the time. The game is beautiful; no doubt about that, and the combat system is better than that of any other MMORPG I have played. However, the combat loses its charm after killing the 17,000th upgraded version of a monster sprite. It's time to clean up the shithole that is my room at the moment, take a much needed (and long awaited) bath and devote some time to one of my other hobbies. Farewell, TERA!
