An engaging entry in the overcrowded shooter genre, Frontlines: Fuel of War does enough sufficiently differently to warrant interest from anybody looking for something a little complimentary to CoD and Halo. I've started digging up discs of games I've never started from my dusty storage, beginning with Frontlines: Fuels of War. It's an fps game with a story setting in a near future when the oil is running out and the powerful countries are at each other's line of fire. It's sort of a Battlefield clone (made by a team who earlier made a Battlefield mod, actually) with additional drone gadgets that give tactical advantage during squad battles. Otherwise, the gameplay setting is quite derivative and subpar with its contemporaries. The AI-controlled squads are keeping you close company wherever you go, so it's not too hard to progress through single player missions.

The single player story is quite predictable and brings nothing fresh except taking up the subject about the oil crisis and the consequences of it in its own narrative. It took me 4 hours to finish the campaign so it doesn't drag out beyond what the level design and mission varieties can offer. There are barely any bugs to be found, which is a stable build for this sort of game. But since it's a less known product from 2008, the multiplayer server is down and there is only so little to take away from Frontlines - FOW. I found this game from a cheap bargain bin so I take it for what it's worth. Hard to recommend this game, unless you are looking for World War 3 scenario to fight in for a low price.
