Bravely Default follows the story of main character Tiz, a humble shepherd and the lone survivor of a cataclysmic event, as he joins a group of loyal companions on a journey to restore balance to the world. The battle system is what differentiates Bravely Default from other RPGs. Here players can strategically choose when to initiate two complementary commands: Brave and Default. This innovative system encourages players to think carefully about strategy during every enemy encounter. Selecting "Brave" lets players increase the number of actions a character can take in a turn, while "Default" allows players to store actions for later use. Read less

Currently playing!!! I will finish this game I tell you what! (Having a hard time in my life right now, but it's nice to have this to focus on and I am enjoying it. I'm at like 52 hours so far of a playthrough, never having finished the game.). Probably my third or fourth time re-starting.

So here I was all excited, having finally finished this game 7 years after having started it. And the ending felt a little underwhelming so I decide to do some googling to make sure I didn't miss anything major and lo and behold, I didn't get the true ending!

Guess I'll just jump back in tomorrow and see if I can really finish it this time.

Been revisiting this game in the hopes that I can actually finish up the playthrough I started years ago. I hadn't realized how nice the options they put into the game are. Being able to adjust encounter rates along with auto battle make grinding a breeze, which is super nice.

let's be serious...I'm not jumping back into this, I don't like this style of JRPG, sounds like it gets tedious later.

Okay well I gave up trying to beat this one boss in Chapter 5 on Normal. I gave it a good college try but after like 5 attempts I wasn’t really getting anywhere. I even consulted a walkthrough and tried their tactics but no dice. I just don’t have the right jobs levelled high enough, which is a shame because …

Okay well I gave up trying to beat this one boss in Chapter 5 on Normal. I gave it a good college try but after like 5 attempts I wasn’t really getting anywhere. I even consulted a walkthrough and tried their tactics but no dice. I just don’t have the right jobs levelled high enough, which is a shame because for the first 1/2 of the game it was fine.

So I bumped it down to easy. I wish you could make multiple saves and then I could always go back and play it on Normal when I was feeling up to the challenge. But noooooo. You only get ONE save slot so you better enjoy it. Oh well, this is just an RPG from SquareEnix. It’s not like they’ve made these types of games with multiple save slots TONS of times before.... oh wait.

So yeah I’m probably just gonna keep the game on Easy for the rest of it to finish out the story which I heard is mediocre anyway.

I don’t know how to feel about this game. I’m to the infamous second half which I was warned was going to be tedious and kind of a drag. I was prepared. The part I’m not prepared for is how hard these bosses are. I feel greatly underleveled which is surprising since I’ve done so much grinding already in the game.

The first half felt so smooth. The battles were not too easy but not too hard. It was a nice mix. And then it seems that once I got all the four crystals the game was like “lol j/k now we’re just going to make it insanely difficult.”

Really tempted to kick it down to Easy for some of these battles just so I can get through the game, especially since I know folks are disappointed by the second half anyway.

Well, that was disappointing. I just finished Bravely Default, and boy I regret saying what I did on my first status. I think it still holds true, the start of this game really bends and avoids my major problem with most RPGs, but then the end does the opposite and represents everything I hate about RPGs.

If you want to play a better version of this game, let me take you to a game made A FEW YEARS BACK and by the SAME COMPANY. You might have heard about it, it’s a "remake" of a small indie game called Final Fantasy V called Final Fantasy V Advance. Seriously, just play that, it’s so good.

So, I originally played this game on the 3DS because a friend said to play it, and I quit because I didn't like it. Playing it now, only at the beginning, but I'm loving it. I don't know what got into me back then.

An absolutely fantastic game, but the later parts of the game were absolutely dreadful. Despite that, the gameplay and battle system were incredible.

Chapter five through eight ruined this already meh JPRG. I can't understand all the praise this pile of garbage gets.
