I’ve enjoyed my 100 hours in it but I’m quite glad I’ve finished, because I was starting to get a little sick of it. With Breath of the Wild I went back and got all the shrines—I don’t think I’ll touch this again.
It was a great time, and it’s been long enough since I played BotW (nearly 10 years—wow) that the main surface level map felt fresh again. The sky islands and the depths I found pretty underwhelming though. The sky islands don’t really do anything with an incredibly cool concept, and the depths don’t do enough to justify their enormous size. The sages are equal parts useful and infuriating, every save in a close fight matched by them knocking an enemy out of your arrow’s path or running away as you desperately try to enable their ability. Also I dunno if I just got it way later than I was meant to, but the
Overall, obviously a fantastic game and a worthy sequel (not that a single thing in the game gives any impression that the first game ever happened), but if someone had played neither and wants a recommendation, I’d still pick Breath of the Wild.
