Marvel's Wolverine is a single-player action-adventure game and a standalone entry in the Marvel's Spider-Man series, sharing continuity with those titles while telling its own self-contained story. Players control Logan/Wolverine in close-quarters combat, using his adamantium claws against enemies drawn from the X-Men comic book mythology. It is planned as the first installment in a trilogy of games focused on the X-Men.

Article: Marvel's Wolverine - Ain't No Hero by Charles Harte

“I’d like to say I’m not a violent man,” Wolverine says via voiceover as he slices off people’s limbs. “That trouble just has a way of finding me. But I’d be lying.” We see Logan drenched in blood, dismembering foes, and impaling skulls. The animation is impressive, and Insomniac even praises its work on the technology to make the blood look so good, but if gore makes you queasy, this might not be the game for you.

Violence aside, the game is beautiful, and we see Wolverine venture to the snowy roads of Canada, the back alleys of Japan, and even the streets of Madripoor, a fictional Southeast Asian country from the Marvel Universe. In one shot, he uses his claws to slide down the edge of a Madripoor rooftop, potentially hinting at some traversal mechanics. Other shots, where the camera follows Logan’s back in third person, also appear to be gameplay, with snappy combos that certainly bear the animation style present in Insomniac’s Spider-Man games.

Insomniac yet again taking a comic book and removing all its sauce to make a bland boring tech art direction. And seeing how the Spider-Man games were written, how all the characters' personalities were erased, how the dialogue sounded fake (the youtuber White Light put it like this: they talk like their employers are watching), I have no hope towards this game.

I would've loved it if they made a cell shaded comic booky game, a bestial Wolverine with exaggerated proportions like Marvel VS Capcom, a story where we fight ninjas in New York, soldiers in the jungle, samurais in Japan.

Seems like a dream nowadays.

It's amusing to me that Australians keep being cast as a Canadian character. No shade, just funny. At least they are still from the Commonwealth, and share the experience of being from a nation colonized by the British, lol.

Cast Cal Dodd as Wolverine: instant 5/5. Runner up casting: Mark Hamill. Let’s see what Insomniac does with this.
