Rytmos (2023)

Finally got around to beating this! Took me roughly 4 hours and there's a little free expansion to explore too if you're up for it. If you love music and puzzle games this will tick a lot of boxes for you.

A complete celebration of genres and their influences from across the world, as well as the instruments that make it all possible. I had so much fun collecting all the records and especially appreciated the little interactive element at the end of each puzzle where you get to play the instrument that the puzzle is themed around.

The visual style, execution, and design is all very slick and cohesive. I like the universe and planet concept representing the different genres, and I love how each genre has a different spin on the puzzle formula. If I had one complaint it was that the controls felt a bit cumbersome at times.

A fun experience at heart, more people should check this out!

The game side of things comes in the form of neat little puzzles but it's also so much more. It's like a sexy little music puzzle educational package all bundled into one.

Really respect how varied the genres are and how much background information they provide for the genres and instruments. At the end of each puzzle block you can have a play around with an instrument related to the genre you're listening to which is neat. They even provide links for you to learn more about the genre and instruments. Crazy!
