Pues nunca lo había terminado, aunque lo había probado en muchas ocasiones.
Me ha gustado el concepto de los niveles y su vuelta, las transformaciones de Wario son divertidas y la duración me parece correcta. Sin duda, un juego con personalidad del que no me importaría ver una entrega moderna.

First Wario Land I played and I LOVED IT! It's very tough, specially for someone that's not good at platforming games (me), but I had such a great time I didn't mind loosing tons of hearts and getting my ass kicked by bosses every now and then.
Music's great, level design's insane and creative, gameplay's simple but with a lot of gimmicks and the plot twist at the end is just chef's kiss.
Absolutely 10/10! I'm looking foward to playing the other Wario Land games.

Just beat this game on my new retro handheld Anbernic RG34XX which looks almost exactly like the OG GBA, but with a gorgeous 720x480 screen that can do 3x integer scaling. It was an absolute blast.

I was planning to play Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion first but randomly started this game and couldn't stop. The sprites are beautiful. The level designs are so uniquely charming. Each level has its own setting, providing a great variety. Just like Super Mario Bros, this game is full of secrets and they rewards your curiosity and creativity. I love the escape sequence of each level and each level has secret tricks or sequence that you can do to shorten the escape time. All of these couple with RetroAchivement is really bringing the whole experience of playing old GBA games to the next level. The whole experience has convinced me that playing games on retro handhelds are superior to playing on the original hardware, at least for GBA, but really for many systems, except perhaps DS and 3DS.
Wario Land 4 gave me so much surprises that I decided to play "hidden gems" kinds of games before playing "the best games" like Metroids, Zelda, Advance Wars, Golden Sun, etc. My next game is Astro Boy Omega Factor.

A goofy and charming, short platform/puzzle game with fantastic sprite work and fun, eclectic music. A goofy and charming, short platform/puzzle game with fantastic sprite work and fun, eclectic music. The tone and style of the game definitely feels like a precursor to the WarioWare series and even has a couple mini games to play for medals that can be traded for powerups to reduce a boss's health.
Given Wario Land 4's lauded reputation, I had expected to enjoy it more, but I still found plenty to appreciate all the same. Upon reflection my gripes feel minor compared to the overall experience but here they are:
Overall my issues with the game were mostly some circumstances where I felt game elements could have been better communicated to the player. I think the game's presentation is definitely it's strongest asset, with the core game flow of exploring a level one way, and then rushing to escape it for the way back being the next best thing about it.

Level design is great, with the layout being more linear than in 3 but with each level having more character and no "you aren't supposed to be here yet" zones, transformations are relegated to an extra mechanic instead of being the main gimmick and it makes them less annoying (although I'm offended Vampire Wario was reduced to only Bat Wario), some levels, like the Domino and Pinball ones, break the norm and are more minigames with some plataforming than levels, the bosses are actually fun to fight and they have real battles instead of "oops, I touched you once, now you're outside of the room and have to come back", and
