The gameplay's emphasis was on enticing fish to bite onto the lure and then successfully fighting the fish and reeling it to the boat. As the player catches fish, they earn item cards. Items earned with these cards include fish and artifacts for an aquarium, fishing equipment, additional boats, and various goofy accessories such as different colored shorts. The game also featured two modes of online play: tournament fishing and "fish mail". In tournament fishing, players competed to catch the biggest fish within a species. Fish mail consisted of writing short messages. Players could receive random messages by catching fish. Sega Marine Fishing can be played using the Dreamcast fishing rod controller. You could customize your character with hats, shirts, etc. Read less

MILF. Man I Love Fishing

Caught your attention!

Sega Marine Fishing is probably one of the best fishing games I ever played, it has it all.

The reelings

  • The game's music is the highlight, the tunes are varied, memorable, fun and get you excited to go fish something! And the reeling theme is a banger, the rock music is going to get you on your toes and make you reel as good as possible, this is your catch and you aren't going to let it go.
  • The game has a lot of unlockables, shirts, music, an aquarium, different lures with different properties, you can even change the skin of the main character (You swap character but there is no difference gameplay-wise). You can easily spend dozens if not hundreds of hours trying to get them all.
  • The graphics are very well made for its time, the fish look good, they look distinct and their swimming styles are accurate to how they do so in real life. They actually paid a lot of attention to this.

The escapees

  • The fishing mechanic is hard as hell without the rod controller, with the normal controller you'll struggle to "bait" the fish into biting. I really recommend you to play on original hardware.
  • No online mode or multiplayer, this really should have had a tournament mode or something, it would have made this game have a competitive scene.

Conclusion

Sega Marine Fishing remains a must-play for fans of the genre, particularly those with original hardware. You will have lots of fun fishing, collecting and listening to the music.
