Now the game is literally stopping me on my tracks, not even for a cutscene, but to listen to audiologs!

I'm back to the endgame content and into the second final boss. What the actual fuck. Who thought this lousy fisticuffs with QTEs was a good idea for a final confrontation? It actually feels like a bad game intentionally, like as a joke.

Well, I'm in ending content territory and, knowing Kojima, I'm expecting miniseries length cutscenes with a bunch of exposition that pretends to be a ShockingTwist (TM) but it's just nonsense. So I'll just focus my rants here.

Of course,
Wait,
Yeah,
Why after 60 hours of open world gameplay in gorgeous open spaces in which I could chose my route and how to avoid or attack obstacles now suddenly I'm railroaded into a embarrassingly ugly city which is just a linear corridor with basically only one possible route?
Why do people talk about "the whole continent" and even "the world" even though we've only connected the USA?
Why after hours of some of the most original gameplay mechanics we end up with the most generic and uninspired boss known to humanity? Running around the obvious arena shooting the big lumbering enemy in its weakpoints? This is Mass Effect 2 levels of terrible boss design.
Aaaand, of course. It's one of those boss fight in which you win in gameplay but then you lose in a cutscene. What a joke.

I think I realised why liked Microsoft Flight Simulator and Death Stranding but not Eurotruck Simulator 2 nor Elitte Dangerous. I think what I really enjoyed about the first two games is how the act of moving from one place to another is filled with decisions big and small.
In both MSFS and DS you need to plan a route, understanding the map and its geography, then you need to constantly make adjustments: make course corrections, get your plane leveled, change directions do to some obstacle like BTs or big slopes.
But in Eurotruck SImualtor and Elitte Dangerous you don't need to do any planing nor corrections. In the former, you can only follow roads and the GPS tells you where to go. It was more fun trying to ignore the GPS and driving reading the signs, but it still was too boring. In the latter, you just point to the system, planet, space station you want to go and then press a button. Even docking is automated by default.
So even though the four games have a superficially similar core gameplay of travelling from point to point deliverling stuff (you don't deliver things in MSFS but you might imagine tht you do), the first two make a meal out of the act of travelling wile the other two just abstract it away into nothingness.
Similar games I'd put into the first category are BOTW, Sable and Lake. Rebel Galaxy would be a game in the second.

I just looked up a gameplay video to actually count, but the first hour of this game has literally 10 minutes of gameplay.

I think I've found how to enjoy ziplines: have fun setting up the network, scouting for good spots, climbing to places I would've missed, and then never use it except for emergencies.
I still think they are seriously overpowered, but at least I managed to find how not to get annoyed by them.

Well, fuck. Now the epic launcher had an issue with syncing my save file and I lost progress.

I built a few ziplines and, wow are these things OP. They remove all gameplay and challenge, especially with so many of them from other players I barely needed to set up a few to get an almost complete network. They are also dirt cheap and trivial to build.

I might need to handicap myself and not use them on principle.

God, that hole Heatman bit was excruciating. If the rest of the game wasn't as engaging I think I would've quitted and never returned.
The game screams for a mod that cuts out all these cutscenes and cringeworthy dialogue and lets you actually play it.

Out of nowhere the BB has a name and Sam is all attached to it. This was never an element of story of gameplay before (Sam barely showed a bit of interest in one cutscene at the start of the game, and that's it). God, the writing of this game is terrible.

I arrived at a city by a long, circuitous route along the snowy mountains and when the plot forced me to go back, I decided to take the shortcut and cross them. Bad idea 😅,
