Remaster of Cel Damage

This is a fun little kart combat game along the lines of Twisted Metal, but with a Looney Tunes-style cartoon look and feel to it. The style of the game is definitely what stands out the most. The graphics are cel-shaded (like Jet Set Radio), and the game physics are completely bonkers. The karts stretch, squish, bounce, flip wildly, and so on like you'd expect of classic wacky cartoons. You can play the regular battle mode, or mess around in capture the flag or race through the gates modes. The game is definitely best-enjoyed by playing with three friends for some split-screen competition.
I found the game fun, but can't help but wish for something more from it. There aren't many environments (only four, though there are multiple maps in each), and the number of characters are quite limited too. The characters also come off as kind of generic-feeling, and I have to wonder if this is a case where using a licensed property (like Looney Tunes) would've given it all a bit more energy, cohesion, and polish. This is an HD re-release, but it still feels janky. The game also didn't seem to click with my friends, which is …

The game also didn't seem to click with my friends, which is a bummer because I'm always on the lookout for an amusing game of this sort that's easy for everyone to quickly jump into.
