Players assume the role of an angry cop on a wild ride as he pursues a gang of bikers who killed his wife. Players need to race through oncoming traffic, squeeze between trucks, trash motorcycles and steer through lots of explosions. If you have ever wondered what the best FMV game on the SEGA CD was then you have just found it. Road Avenger is an absolutely awesome game where you control a cop as he does his best to kill all of the members of the biker gang that killed his wife.

The game is first person and all you do is complete quick time events as an anime road battle/chase scene plays out. It is split up into different levels and each one features a different type of scenery, such as city streets, the grand canyon, sewers, and farmland. The gameplay here is extremely simple, but presentation is everything when it comes to game like this. These chase scenes are some of the best ever animated. You are driving through buildings, exploding cars, driving under 18 wheelers, jumping gaps, and much more! This game is one huge spectacle and it is amazingly action packed and awesome. I would say that it may even be worth watching someone else play the game just to see these action scenes play out.

Another great thing about the scenes are the death scenes. This game has dozens of unique death scenes and it is worth replaying the game just to die in specific places and see the brutality of how it happens!

The difficulty curve of Road Avenger is sharp! The first few levels are relatively easy and can be completed without too much hassle, but everything changes once you hit the sewer level. Oh my god... you need to hit the commands faster than your brain can even process what is happening. At this point, you need to watch the video and anticipate what you may need to press before it even comes on screen. Thankfully, the game is pretty logical and you can tell ahead of time that you are going to need to turn or break or something (most of the time).

Overall, this game is fantastic and you should go out and play it (or just watch the video). Its only about 25 minutes long if you do not reset and is definitely a fun enough experience to warrant a playthrough.
