My copy came bundled with a PC I purchased from QVC in 1995 (yes, I bought a computer from a TV shopping channel) and turned out to be an incredibly useful program. The computer set-up ran me about $2,500.00 and was very, very generic and chock-full of outdated hardware and software.
I had completed two semesters of typing lessons at McKinley Vocational High School in Buffalo, NY and the CD program was essential for continuing my progress. The graphics are rudimentary and there is nothing "fun" about using the application, but it does the job.
The lessons were highly repetitive, but that is the point! You want your fingers to be able to reproduce movements without having to think about it and that is exactly what the program enforced.
Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing is still in production in 2017 for a reason - it works!
