Grand Theft Auto VI (2026)

Seeing an unfortunate trend online where people are insulting those who buy the standard edition. This isn't just replies to other comments, it's original comments stating outright that if you buy the standard edition then you're "poor" or "not a true fan", and that it's your fault if you cannot afford the upgrade.

What a gross and toxic culture that's formed around these multi million dollar companies.

Game Informer has, admittedly, given a large amount of coverage to small glimpses of GTA VI in the wild, but it would be a massive disservice to leave it off our most anticipated list. It won the Most Anticipated award at the Game Awards this year and last year. Its launch date will scare every developer on the planet away from launching a game in November 2026, and when that day comes, it will absolutely dominate the conversation in not just gaming culture, but pop culture. It is not only the most anticipated game of 2026; GTA VI is arguably the most anticipated game of all time. If that doesn’t belong on our list, what does?

GTA 6 Says It's Coming in Fall 2025. That's Very Unlikely

The internet got a rare update on what’s happening with Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto sequel Thursday, with publisher Take-Two Interactive narrowing the anticipated game’s release window to Fall 2025. But I wouldn’t schedule that vacation time with the boss just yet: there’s good reason to believe Take-Two might be off in their estimation by at least a few months.

[H]istory dictates that maybe the public should hold their collective breaths and wait for the other, very consistent shoe to drop.

Rockstar Games has a very particular track record when it comes to delaying their massive tentpole releases. Even going back 17 years, they’ve pushed back the release dates of every major release they’ve had.

The games industry is fast-paced, ebbing and flowing with trends that are here one generation, and gone the next. But there are few things as dependable as a Rockstar game being delayed. As much as it pains me to say this (trust me, I want to play GTA 6 as much as the next person), I implore the collective internet to take yesterday’s announcement with a grain of salt until we’re much, much closer to release.
