Excellent Early Action-Adventure Game With Multiple Gameplay Modes
Look: 8/10 Great title screen. Great title screen. Great colors for the levels, the sprites and whatnot remind me so much of the early NES era and it's giving me a cozy feeling and excitement for the mid-80s console era coming up! I can't believe I'm already almost to Zelda and Castlevania, etc., in my chronology project. Well, "almost." Especially now that I plan to mostly skip RPGs, which will probably be a later project. This set a lot of precedents for games I like!

Play: 8/10 Gotta love the Extended Play function finally. I do wish more of these early games had Pause function though... Kinda silly how you attack during the Rescue Cheri part. The variety of gameplay styles, plus the Extended Play function make this a lot of fun. I'm not a big fan of the Donkey Kong-esque platforms and ladders part, especially lacking a Jump function. Insanely simple, in that it all is with just one joystick and no buttons, which is both a negative and a positive. Impressive regardless how much they achieved with so little, though. Again, these type games are getting me excited for the upcoming action adventure genre on consoles in the mid 80s. The hot air balloon parts making me feel bad at videogames again heh. Lol the jungle running parts. Addicted, I kept retrying even after getting frustrated. Welp, I made it through Round 1, and it seems Round 2 is just faster-paced--meh on that.
Feel: 9/10
I love the settings and colors so much. Plus the concept--a fantasy adventure come to life in arcade action form. I wish my version had the Sound because I might have really liked it! Quite a variety of gameplays in this, most of which are fun! Also, I love the name "Cheri" :-p Reminds me of Cheree Cheree by Suicide. The hot air balloon parts gave me nostalgia for the Runescape hot air balloons and the minigames in some Humongous Entertainment games. I just wish you actually pressed a button to attack, could shoot from the hot air balloon etc. It's very joystick-focused. Oh, and the monkey throwing coconuts reminded me of Zelda Link's Awakening, etc., ha. Oh, and Cheri looks a lot like some of the moon inhabitants in Putt Putt Travels to the Moon ha:

Attachment: 8/10 Definitely will be on my list of both early arcade and early action-adventure games! If only it weren't for the hot air balloon parts, which I still enjoyed but not as much, this would be a favorite for sure! Innovative, awesome, underrated, I love it!
