Played on slow motion as far as the final boss but did not have enough time to win. Stupid time limit. Did not bother to try again. The game started off only able to punch and with a lot of UI elements on screen that implied far more depth than the game actually had. He switched between only punch and the other button shooting at specific points during the stages. This was a weird mechanic that added nothing. Aiming was ok with him able to shoot 7 directions (not straight down) with the shooting locking him in place. The enemies were fast with very little time to react and avoid taking damage, and they seemed to respawn if I moved backwards a little. This was very annoying with stationary enemies when I tried to shoot them at an off angle. The most difficult enemy in the game was the stairs. The first time I went up to an optional area I could not get back down and had to load state. In another stage there was an optional path leading to a nice gun but getting him to go down stairs took so long that I failed due to time limit. It looked like it should work like Castlevania stairs, and going up did work like that. But going down was always excessively difficult. I didn't figure out how to change guns until the final stage; start then up or down while paused. The basic pistol had infinite ammo while the SMG and sniper rifle had ammo. The rifle did massive damage but the SMG seemed to have shorter range and less damage per shot compared to pistol. I killed all the bosses without those extra guns. They required a little pattern learning, avoiding attacks and shooting accurately. The final stage began extremely annoying with a conveyor belt pushing you the wrong way. The enemy layouts were tough and there was no time pickups at all. By the time I reached the final boss the time limit was nearly expired and there was no way to win. There should not have been a time limit at all, or at least make it forgiving enough to only fail if you deliberately fooled around. While not the worst NES shooter, it was a poor quality game with shoddy design.
