Hyper Zone plays like a cross between a racing game and shooter. The object of the game is to navigate each level while shooting enemies and earning points, until finally an encounter with a boss ends each level. After enough points are acquired, the player earns an "extend" and his or her ship is upgraded in the next stage. The player's ship can receive up to six upgrades.

Imagine "Beat Saber" but generic, boring, and annoying

After spending a good 1 hour with this game, it's not even worth $10 CIB. it's your average "graphical showcase" for the SNES. it also has some weird resemblance with Beat Saber for some reason.

This review is for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System version

this game is real simple but its a nice showcase of the snes' cool features. the soundtrack is really good but thats kind of a given if you have Jun Ishikawa or Hirokazu Ando composing for a game.

Beat the game, though only by abusing save states because the game is very difficult. While it was nice to play something different (3D shoot em up instead of 2D), the 3D perspective is what makes this game so difficult. I had to laugh at the final level being a boss gauntlet, because the bosses were easier than the levels. This game was mediocre and barely worth playing in the first place. At least it was very short.
