Oddly Clunky For An Arcade Game--But Surprisingly Addictive
The clunkiness and slow movements of Quasimodo, which I read was intentional and part of the game/concept, proved to make the game feel like a drag. The clunkiness and slow movements of Quasimodo, which I read was intentional and part of the game/concept, proved to make the game feel like a drag. Like, it was more fun watching me fall to my death lol. Cuz at least that was fast :-p And I mean.. this is an arcade action game... I expect high quality for this era. But despite tehse negatives, I surprisingly played through the game. Maybe cuz it starts quite easy (I read the challenge substantially increases if I played the "re-cycled" levels), but I somewhat enjoyed my bit of time playing it. It probly would have earned a 1 star if I had just completed the first screen, cuz dang is it slow and trudging. But I for some reason wanted to finish. Probly thanks to that feature, like I've mentioned before, where you see the level progress concept with the bells at the top of the screen.
At least jumping in sequence was surprisingly responsive and tight, despite the otherwise clunky and trudging controls. Oddly, despite most people finding the game bad, and frankly me feeling that way too, I kept playing... Like I've mentioned before, seeing that end goal keeps me. As poorly-done of a platformer this is, especially for an arcade platformer, the fact I completed it says something and I have to give it credit. Plus, technically, the look and sound are decent.
Anyway, yay I did it! Time to move on heh..
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that wasn't the end: there was one more challenging screen to surpass! But I did it! And then the screens re-cycle with higher difficulty (but the same slow clunky character)
I went in planning just a short status update, but it turned into basically a review :-p Look: 7/10 (I love the princess graphic, giving me Mario vibes) Play: 7/10 (I wanna give it a 6/10 for the clunkiness, but I can't deny I just played through the whole darn thing lol) Feel: 7/10 Attachment: 7/10 (unlikely I will replay it, but the fact I played through all screens says something) Completion: All Screens Once Playtime: ~35 mins
