Some notes from my time with DeathSpank:

  • Recommend M+KB. Console controls felt frustrating.
  • The humor is a bit childish, but it's not excessively in your face like borderlands, and once in a while a character will say something that tickles me just right. Also, there's a surprising amount of solid voice acting.

  • While DS isn't a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, I strongly recommend it for anyone who wants something similar to Diablo but doesn't want to spend a ton of time dealing with needless grinding, figuring out which gear has optimal stats, or replaying the same content multiple times because the item they needed didn't drop.
  • I haven't tried the co-op, so I can't speak to it.

Fun enemy AI and encounters keep this game decently fresh, but outdated controls and humor keep it from shining.

It was the best among the games I have played throughout this particular vacation (except maybe Batman: Arkham Asylum). I wish it was longer.

If it's by Ron Gilbert, you know it's going to be funny! A streamlined version of Diablo, this is a charming and funny game, with a lot of easter eggs to bygone years. A fun adventure for kids, too.
