Precision, Creativity, and Pure Joy — My Favorite Platformer
For me, this is by far the best platformer ever made. The main character may be a bit odd, and I never fully identified with him, but the world he moves through is absolutely perfect. Everything fits together seamlessly.

The controls are flawless. When I think about the most recent 2D Super Mario—like Super Mario Bros. Wonder—where the movement sometimes feels oddly sluggish and imprecise, it makes the contrast even clearer. In Rayman Legends, movement is razor-sharp. The handling is tight, responsive, and consistently reliable. Precision is never the issue; if you fail, it’s on you.
Beyond that, the creativity is extraordinary. The small enemies, the countless charming details, and the imaginative level design make the world feel alive. There is constant variety, with new ideas and visual twists introduced regularly, and the game never becomes tedious. The scope is generous without feeling bloated.
And then there are the music levels. They are on an entirely different level. Rarely have I had so much fun moving in rhythm through a stage. The synchronization of action and music is exceptional.
I originally completed around 85–90% of it, collecting many achievements, and returning to it only reinforced my appreciation. It’s one of those rare games where you feel compelled to perfect every single level. I genuinely love it.
