Strange Telephone is a unique little game, I'll give it that. I picked this up on the Switch because I saw people compare it to Yume Nikki, a favorite of mine. This is a pixel-based 2D side-scroller, that simply has you walking from one dreamscape to the next, and using a (strange) telephone to dial numbers that transport you to specific locales you want to revisit later. Or, you can just dial random numbers and see where you end up. The goal of the game is to collect items that will allow you access to locked-away areas, and ultimately reach some kind of ending.

The main problem with this game is that it's extremely repetitive. Each dreamscape is just a few steps long, so you'll jump from a forest to a mechanical area to an open field to the inside of a house all in the space of ten seconds. In the game's favor, I will say the pixel art is very nice though! There are a lot of nifty animated gifs you could make from this game, that would certainly look cool in a message board signature. (Are those still a thing?)

Hey guys. I'm going to keep writing reviews, but til then I've started writing a Strange Telephone fanfic which you can read right here. Let me know what you think. My novels and most of my work are general fiction, so this is fanfic stuff is a bit of a stretch for me, creatively, but yeah. I hope you like it!
