This is largely a high fantasy tale of heroics and courtly intrigue, but there's some great queer storytelling here as well! Including a lovely, timely subplot about trans bodies, their right to exist, and the ways they've been othered for the political gain of bigots and cowards.

Heroes of Myth from Abigail C. Trevor is one of my very favorite text adventures, so when I heard her new game had a demo I jumped right on it. Turns out it's really good!

The premise here is great: you're a legendary knight of your kingdom, whose storied deeds are sung high from the mountaintops, that dies unceremoniously in the first 5 minutes of the game. Centuries later, you're brought back to life as a ghost, unsure of your purpose and the changed world around you. Should you return to your service of the crown as a spectral chevalier? Or perhaps there's a new path for you to float down?

There's courtly intrigue, draconic diplomacy, and a wizard diving expedition to the deep sea floor. There's heady commentary on how the history of the past is rewritten to serve the needs of the present, and a classic Hammer horror scene where you grow yourself a new body from the dusty fragments of your bones. Best of all, the demo ends with a twist so good you don't even mind you saw it coming!

Devoured the whole thing in one sitting, absolutely cannot wait for the full release come September.
