After playing Watchdogs I did not leave the game feeling that satisfied. The story was fine, but the game was quite dull. The characters were extremely one layered and the protagonist was a huge snore. Not only that but the visuals were not what we were promised. However, in Watchdogs 2 I felt a huge improvement covering the flaws of the previous installment. Right off the bat the protagonist is amazing and abundant with personality. Not only him but his whole squad of side characters were interesting and I enjoyed talking to them even outside of missions. The game's setting was beautiful and the visuals really stepped it up. The storyline gets a little muddled by the end of the game, but it was still overall strong. I loved the puzzles they made you do and all the gadgets in the game really pushed the gameplay. My only criticisms is that the game sometimes comes across quite the number of bugs and glitches, never game-breaking, but noticeable. Overall this game is everything the original promised and more. Very excited to see what they do with the next installment, but I'm quite sad we won't get more time with this bunch …

It definitely wasnt the best inovative game Ive ever played but it was really fun! The gadgets to help you with missions were fun, the fact that i could drive like a fu**ing moron and police car right next to me wouldnt go after me, good! Cos i really cant drive in games :D The fact that there were new stuff i didnt get to do before throughout the game kept it a bit fresh, I really enjoyed figuring out how to get on top of the building for whatever mission i needed to do. I could pick if imma shoot my way out through the mission or do in sneakily with my gadgets. The city was beautiful, the chinatown, the lgbtq friendly part, the golden gate bridge... i really enjoyed all of this and im already excited for another installment in the series <3

The only bad thing about WD2 is the special vision mode. I'm getting really tired of special vision modes, which is ironic, because at least 4 of my top 25 games have it. It's especially bad here because finding hackable objects is a pain without "hackvision" (or whatever it's called). Instead of completely turning the world grey (or whatever) vision modes should just highlight stuff. What's the point of designing detailed levels if you're going to move around a completely grey world most of the time?
Conclusion
The Watch Dogs games along with Saints Row prove that GTA-likes can be fun without being dreadfully tedious. Just the simple fact that you can instantly fast travel without waiting for a cab or dropping from a plane makes a huge difference. Rockstar/Avalanche Studios - take note.

Watch_Dogs 2 is a tremendous improvement over its predecessor in every regard. It does everything that the first should have done and what you'd expect from a game centered around hacking, not the result which was a third-person shooter with a long-range interact key.
In the game, you start off performing hacking-based publicity stunts, like scamming not-Schkreli to buying private rights to a not-WuTang album. Or commandeering the not-NightRider car into performing stunts around the city. Oh, did I mention many of the missions and details parody real life? I would be fine with the whole game being silly diversions with light hacktivism, but there's an evil corporation to overthrow. The game doesn't deal with the shift in tone well from silly and mundane to preventing Orwell's 1984, as the side missions and main story progress independently.

For many missions, you don't even need to physically enter the area, you can send your drone or r/c car in to do the work.
You can see Ubisoft going "we realize we messed up with Watch Dogs 1," like when your hacker buddies talk about Aiden (Watch Dogs 1's protagonist) in a one-off mission, they add that he had a "mixed" reception. In regards to the story progression of the first game, I was so ready for every accomplishment your hacker group did to go wrong, but... that never happened. Your hacker group gets their victories; you're not be slogged down by having a bullshit complication around every turn. So that's nice.
A minor issue, and it's mostly due to how I play games, but there's an augmented visor which turns everything grey except for hacking hotspots and . While this is nice, it's too easy to play most of the game like this, with most of the screen grey. A compromise would be nice- hotspots and enemies marked in the normal view.
Of course, it's also an open world game. The car hacking is really fun to mess around with, as you can run cars into walls and whatnot, as well as the ability to call gangs or the police to fight each other. Fire up your drone and watch as unlikely numbers of gang members and police fight it out.
I love for the overall features and gameplay, but the story was sucks.

It doesn't try to be overly emotional like the first game, but instead leans into activism as a narrative vehicle. Timely. What if Anonymous was run by a group of diverse young adults with a strong unique style and tons of automatic weaponry? Because the game is trying to be less serious it can actually be more serious in a more realistic way than the first game, with some surprisingly human moments mixed into the story. They even gently knock on some Big Issues like racism and trans rights, which would have been deeply problematic in the first game. Gameplay-wise it's a slightly more polished experience than the first game. There is definitely more mission variety, and the missions are generally more enjoyable. Also because the game is less serious in tone, the absurd hacking stuff fits in a little better. My only real complaints are the ways that some of the DLC looks a little too much like the Fortnite-aesthetic, and that the ending is kind of weak as they are obviously making way for the next big game in the …

An overall good game with solid gameplay, decent characters, and a weak plot. The gameplay elements are a step up from the first Watch Dogs, but this is not the best GTA-clone out there. If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would.

Every time you, as Dedsec, commit to some huge statement, a news story often later explains how the problem became somewhat worse as a result of your actions. This could be a potentially interesting commentary on how the aggressive hacktivism you and your group enact in the game might do more harm than good, even when those involved had initially good intentions. However, this idea isn't really reflected in the main story in any meaningful way. The main cast (who are all characterised wonderfully through good writing, design and performances) never grow or are ever clearly bothered by this at any point. Watch Dogs 2 never commits to anything bold, and thus this "commentary" feels like an afterthought.

Encounters lack a need to stop and think about your actions before proceeding which is a real shame because it feels like the game is designed for that very purpose. YouTuber SuperBunnyhop suggested that Ubisoft remove guns entirely from the next Watch Dogs game and while I can't ever see that happening, I couldn't agree more. It would be a very brave move, but definitely one the game would benefit from. Reports are that the next game is set in London, where gun control is massively stricter, so fingers crossed that means what I think it might mean.
Ultimately, the issue with Watch Dogs 2, and basically every Ubisoft game, is that it lacks the courage to commit to anything remotely interesting. The main issue is one which breaks it at the core, and that's the fact that Ubisoft lacks a spine. The developer is too scared to break the mould and that's tragic because they are clearly talented enough to deliver something truly special. Unfortunately, for now, their games are simply forgettable, and that's the gravest sin of all.

This installment of Watch Dogs built on what the first did right, and majorly improved it by making a main character and cast who are actually immensely likeable.
Hey Ubisoft. I really enjoy how you push ideeas through games, but, i think you try too hard to be too unique and stand out. The mighty Watch Dogs wasn't what was promised. Neither is the follow up, however, we have a bland game with intrresting ideeas, dialogs and characters. A game trying to show you, while being funny, the very things that we are and will be encountaring for a lot of years. I really had fun with WD 2, and you don't need superior AI detailing, over the top RDR2 atmoshpere to push some ideeas, if you nknow that you can't handle. Just stick with what you do best. I really recommend the fun out of this one.
Liked the characters, driving controls almost made me quit out of frustration
This title let me earn my first platinum (had four already before this) where I actually wanted to earn it.
The previous four were earned by simply playing the titles (looking at you TellTale titles and Terminator Salvation 😅).
Besides that, I felt that the world had more of a realistic lived in feel and I appreciated the inclusion of LGBT NPC's.

The biggest thing that stood out to me was the incredible environment. Having traveled to the Bay area several times, this is Ubisoft's best reconstruction of San Francisco in comparison to the version in Driver: San Francisco and The Crew, on top of adding Palo Alto with a well-design Stanford University (that I wish was actually used in the plot) and Oakland. There are many recognizable landmarks that you'll pass during your playthrough overall.
I also really like how open-ended the game allows you to do most missions. Sure you could just brute force and gun your way in, but I found myself like to rely on drone works or outright causing mayhem by placing police warrants on other people. The stealth gameplay is fun, but I wish I could also move the bodies around considering guards do react to them.
Overall, I also enjoyed the story too. Watch Dogs 2 presents a disturbing take on how tech companies can actually indirectly manipulate lives of citizens, of which either the scenarios actually has happened in reality or can be shocking plausible in the futre. The characters were full of life, with great interactions like a tight-knit JRPG party. I can see how the whole "meme" culture can turn people instantly away, and there are some cringe acting moments too.
In the end, I found this to be a unique and memorable game that really stood out to me for me to give it 5 stars based on my personal experience.

This is a really fun game i would definitely recommend.
I see that this free Watch Dogs 2 deal Ubisoft has for watching their not-E3 conference is going to go about as smoothly as the first day or so when Epic gave out GTA5.
Just log in during the conference that starts in about 15 minutes, and watch for at least a minute.
The catch: their login system is completely busted right now.
Got all the Achievements and Ubisoft Classic Club challenges for this game. A masterpiece that was fun the whole way through. I loved this game and would recommend to anyone!
While I preferred the atmosphere of the first Watch Dogs, this game was still awesome. It did feel awkward at times killing as Marcus is a Hacker vs Aiden who was a vigilante.
Really excited as Watch Dogs Legion looks like its returning to the atmosphere of the first game. None the less, this game rocks and the story was awesome!
