AW Remastered edition played on Series X. I never played the DLCs for this game before. I did not realize it was actually a 2 part continuation of the story that sets up a sequel even more than the original ending does.

This one is just more Alan Wake. It adds one new mechanic/environment which is fine. It does not really add much but is not unwanted.

I will say the action sequences in this one feel... worse. Not overall but the open bits were kind of annoying and I just came from the main game! Also the "boss" fight and last "fight" were just really annoying and it if ended here, it would have left me on a more sour note.

Although some complain about backtracking and the reuse of environment we already explored in the main game, I quite enjoyed these twisted memories and how they are punctured by Alan's mysterious doppelgänger. The lighting up words mechanic is great and would have been an awesome feature in the main game. Here though, we get maybe about 20 minutes of cool stuff and 40 minutes of repetitive combat encounters, often in confined spaces.
