Why does this page look different?
We're in the process of merging Giant Bomb game entries to IGDB entries. This is an older Giant Bomb page. It's safe to use, and all data will eventually be moved to the corresponding IGDB entry.
Minerva's Den is a stand alone add-on to Bioshock 2. Subject Sigma is sent by Charles Porter to Minerva's Den, to recover the plans for Rapture's central computer that he designed and bring them to the surface. Reed Wahl accused Porter of treason against Andrew Ryan, securing his control over the computer, and using its power to attempt to predict the future.
Bioshock 2 is the basis on which this game is build, and there is no deviation from the base game. The weapons, plasmids, and interactions with the Little Sisters follows the base game exactly. Where Minerva's Den stands out is in its more constricted environment and narrative. The game plays out in only two main areas, with a limited cast and focused goals. Rather than being a weakness, for Minerva's Den this is its greatest strength. It tells a single story, and it tells it well. The games final revelation is both unexpected, and emotionally fulfilling.
