I had my fun for a few hours with this RPG. However, the wait times are insane and the maps are not that interesting to play in to justify them. The characters were interesting, but not enough for me to even remember their names. The story was promising at first but gave little choice of how to mold it once you make progressions. The world was also not that unique or different from your run of the mill medieval tale. The combat at least was cool, although at times cluttering, and the variety of spells and attack forms was appreciated. Equipment, items, weapons diversity was severely lacking, unfortunately. Talking about equipment, the inventory system was not the most user friendly and difficult to traverse. All in all, there are not that many things I enjoyed from this title outside of its cool esthetics and old school memories.

One of the much better RPG's I've played. I'd rate it just under Dragon Age and that's purely due to character development being a little lacking in comparison. Got hooked on the story and quests pretty quickly and it's super neat that you have your own stronghold and can have pets. Definitely will play this again.
I'm really strongly considering how much I like New Vegas because I am enamored with Pillars
I am amazed at the story of this game. Still in the first half, but the world-building is so interesting and well done!
The gameplay mimics that of the old isometric D&D games, which works for the most part, but might be a learning curve for some people.
I started playing Avowed, and immediately turned it off when it presented me with so much lore. I am starting here and working my way back to Avowed ;-; I will get there eventually but I am excited to take this journey!
Mostly enjoyable but got pretty repetitive at the end. I also took an extended break from the game and had a hard time remembering the story.
Masterpice.
No need to fill ten words.
Eight. Nine. Ten.
This is free on the Epic store this week:

This is one of my top 25 games. If you liked CRPGs like Baldur's Gate you will probably love this. It also has a really great story mode that makes the battles easier so you can focus on the awesome worldbuilding and characters. Plus you'll learn about bird anatomy........
I started this game over the weekend. I bought it over a year ago, and figured i'd eventually get around to it. WOW, i'm about 7 hours in and I am hooked!
I'll write a full review once I finish but initial thoughts:
This game 100% is a throw back to the classic isometric RPGs of the late '90s early 2000s, games I spent hours and hours playing. This genre isn't for everyone, and isn't for all RPG fans, but its a style I really missed. If you think open world, but consequence-less exploration like found in Skyrim is dull. Or if you find the quick, but shallow combat of the Witcher 3 a bit of a let down, then this may be for you.
I love the interactive text moments. This game has come the closest to making me feel like I am playing D&D. It rewards roleplaying and thought out text responses.
The combat system is incredibly overwhelming at first. But at 7 hours in I am getting a rythm. I really like what the game has done with endurance (immediate health), injuries (ailments gained from hitting 0 endurance during combat and getting knocked out, but that go …

The combat system is incredibly overwhelming at first. But at 7 hours in I am getting a rythm. I really like what the game has done with endurance (immediate health), injuries (ailments gained from hitting 0 endurance during combat and getting knocked out, but that go away once you rest), and Health ( which is long term health, each hit of endurance also loses health. If health is low endurance doesn't refill. Hit 0 health your character may die). This is a clever way to allow sustained exploration, without perpetually resting to refill abilities. It also gives some nice long term effects from close combats that went wrong.
The graphics I think currently are the biggest miss. The drawn portraits and bits look great, as do the environaments But the actual sprites themselves are less impressive.
Overall, im enjoying this game. It weirdly gives me jolts of nostaligia, but with the perks of modern gaming!
Finished main game and White March 1 and 2. 60% achievements.
Finished it on Path of the Damned, did every piece of content I could find. Overall, a pretty damn good game if you're into this type of RPG. Looooooooooooong.
I'm 40 hours into my 'second' playthrough now, and I'm loving it. I had to quit an attempt about a year ago at about where I am now (2/3+ of the way through) due to real life obligations.
I think it may be my favorite isometric cRPG... I'll have to wait to see how the last part of the story plays out, but I can't really think of one I've liked better. I think the gameplay is quite a bit superior to the any of the Baldur's Gate/NWN/KotoR games, and the story is on par with the best of them so far. The companions aren't quite as fleshed out as they could be, but they're enjoyable nonetheless. There's enough annoyances with the AI, pathfinding, load times, etc. that I don't think I'll bump it up to 5/5 even if I love the ending.
If Pillars 2 fixes these issues, it could easily find a way into my all time favorites. It's been a long time since I've been as stoked for a game as I am Pillars 2, so here's hoping things pan out well next month!
Ack. I need to get back into this. I got to Act 3, the difficulty ramped up, and I thought "Hey, why don't I go back and quest a bit to level up?" and I left it there. I need to get back into it before I drop it too far.
I played for 60 hours straight on launch and loved it. Then started to play something else and forgot about it (happens to me a lot). Suddenly now, after months and months, I picked it up and finished it. Glad I did. Nice ending, so much philosophy that it reminded me of Planescape.
I've come around on Pillars of Eternity. It's so story rich in a way that no game I've played is. (Keeping in mind I've had trouble getting into CRPGs in the past). It's intimidating. So many Gods and Goddesses, people, worlds, races. I at least have a decent knowledge of D&D lore, but this is brand new to me. And I'm loving it! It's a really wonderful, full world. I "get" the combat more now. I still get wrecked by the occasional enemy that seems easy, but I get WHY now. Also, I had accidentally skipped an entire HUGE story line in the first city (Raedric) and moved on. So I missed out on all that XP, which is why someone like Maerwald was so impossible to me! This is a really good game, so far. I hope the difficulty doesn't spike like crazy throughout. I checked my played time. 20 HOURS! I had no idea!
