It obviously doesn’t have the perfect simplicity of Tetris but it’s maybe my favourite of his sons. I think they have the same level of addictiveness and the long game is quite similar, with the slow start, the constant acceleration and then the fight for survival. It obviously doesn’t have the perfect simplicity of Tetris but it’s maybe my favourite of his sons. I think they have the same level of addictiveness and the long game is quite similar, with the slow start, the constant acceleration and then the fight for survival. Also, I always loved so much the puzzle mode, because of how it’s structured but also because on PSP it’s a great way to play Lumines on the toilet. But still, the real Lumines experience is laying on the couch with it, in trance for (at least) an hour. My only (minimal) issue with the game is the same I’ve always had: it can be hard to play when you get to the music tracks you don’t like.

Early puzzler for the Playstation Portable that I remember having a hard time getting good at, but with great music, an attractive UI and a pleasant and responsive feel to the controls. Not a lot of variety however, and the Puzzle Mode is surprisingly difficult right off the bat. Or maybe it's just me? I can definitely see myself playing this on the train, locked in wearing headphones, trying to unlock new skins and music...because when you're in the zone and time freezes around you, Lumines becomes a rather cool title to carry.

The remastered version of this has dethroned Puyo Puyo Tetris as my favorite puzzle game on the Switch. I've never played a Lumines game before, but I love the mixture of rhythm and Tetris-like block clearing.

The remastered version of this has dethroned Puyo Puyo Tetris as my favorite puzzle game on the Switch. I've never played a Lumines game before, but I love the mixture of rhythm and Tetris-like block clearing.

The Joy-con rumble works well for this game. While I enjoy playing with a pair of headphones, I find I can also play with the sound off just by the vibration of the controllers.

The first few days I played, I was disappointed by the lack of control options, but yesterday that was patched. My only other criticism is that I wish one of the other modes would train you a bit better on how to improve in the main "challenge" mode.
