Completing the Original Arcade version was like blasting back to the past and doing something that my 10yr old self only Dreamed of doing! Then blasting back to the NES version was like eating nostalgia pie... I think this is what psychology calls "suppressed memories"
I spend my christmas morning doing what I did about 33 years ago, when I got my first video games console.
Cowbunga Collection getting delisted - at least in Japan, though I can't imagine why the same wouldn't happen in other territories - with very little notice.

Do I have to tap the sign again? Digital is an absolute disaster for preservation. Physical games, if stored correctly, will last, at very least, our lifetimes. You can just go on eBay and buy it, regardless of publisher BS.

Finished TMNT 1 on the NES. I think out of all the TMNT video games, it's the most ambitious. The sheer variety in the game makes it better in my opinion than the brainless beat 'em ups of the future (thought I like those games as well).
The unbalanced challenge of the game, some due to the cheap design, some due to the poor programming, is the biggest flaw in this game. Enemies are placed in places where you will take damage no matter what. The seaweed in level 2 is almost unavoidable. However, if you learn that you can respawn pizza by leaving a building and going back into it, it makes it easier to keep your turtles alive.
Overall, not a bad game for the NES. Flawed, for sure, but ahead of its time. It's too bad we never saw a TMNT game with this amount of variety ever again.
I'm telling ya, game developers, put the classics in a compilation on a modern console, I will buy it. Each and every time.
This is a great collection of some fun games. I really love now having save states for the original NES TMNT. Makes the game a whole hell of a lot more fun.
If you loved the old school TMNT video games, this is a no brainer to pick up.
Just bought The cowabunga collection. I'll play it this weekend.
