I'm really happy I got to this game. First of all Respawn nailed representing what makes the star wars universe so special into just over a handful of planets. Every planet feels interesting and important to the lore and the story. And just like most EA games the planets look gorgeous. The atmosphere on every planet and basically every part of the game is perfect. And damn the characters in this game are likeable as hell. Cal Cestus is an almost perfect star Wars protagonist with him going through the challenges of facing the dark side. The side characters play off of Cal so well that dialogue between them is never boring. Even the villains are likeable too. I feel like I'm in the middle when it comes to combat. On one hand I think that all the skills you can unlock and the different lightsaber forms all add so much variety that you can grow accustomed to multiple moves and chains of attacks. While on the other hand some enemy's are pretty annoying to deal with especially when your fighting up close and you have storm troopers just sniping at you when you can't see them. But overall I …

But overall I think combat is good and fun especially near the end. Now the story beats in this game are crazy. Again this game shows Respawn knows how to make a story that is enjoyable for everyone. Not only does this game take place in one of the more underappreciated times in the star Wars timeline, the rise of the Jedi order (aka in between Episodes III and IV), but it depicts it in a way that I wish we got more media outside of comics going this deep into stories outside of what the saga has covered. I think the ending was a really cool but the surprise twist at the end is something I saw coming from a mile away. Overall I give this game a strong 8/10, play with EA Play on Game Pass.

Overall, I enjoyed the game, and don't regret buying or playing this as part of our game club...but I was ready to be done with it when it ended.

Probably the best Star Wars gaming property of the last 5 years. The gameplay is fun, and the plot is decent. The load times are brutal though. A fast travel would also have been helpful for exploration. Full playthrough below ↓
3.5 ⭐ actual rating.
A game filled with unique characters and some solid set pieces and beautiful worlds, that had me scratching me head a few times with the story.
Fallen Order is a pretty special game. We are finally in control of a lightsaber again, which we haven't had the chance to do since The Force Unleashed. And Cal Kestis is a great character to play as.
And the characters are definitely the highlight of this little story. Every single one of them is unique in their own right. And every one of them is likeable. From Greeze to Merrin. Even if Merrin didn't get enough screen time to make me happy.
I don't know what it is with Star Wars but no matter who is doing the story they always tend to nail the droid character. From R2 to BB8 to BD1 are always fantastic.
The gameplay was a lot of fun with very little hiccups. It took me a second to get into the combat as I thought it was going to be a bit more hack and slash-y, but it's not. It's more calculated and deliberate. You have to time your parry's and look for openings …

It's more calculated and deliberate. You have to time your parry's and look for openings to attack. I really enjoyed it! Even if it was fairly difficult. But it felt like I was always getting better and with even more practice I could become a Jedi Master.
My only issue with the combat was the final boss. Now see, I died a few times in this game, no big deal, but that final boss? Over and over and over again I had to reload. It felt like absolute horse poop since I had nowhere near the amount of struggles up to that point. It felt disjointed and overly difficult.
The main baddie was cool though! Very cool. But that was another part of my problem was some story beats. I don't want to give spoilers so I'm gonna be vague. There were moments in the story that just didn't make sense. Like I don't think people would react to this or that I'm such a calm and understanding way. And while there were some genuinely touching moments, there were a couple that could have been incredible that ended up calling a little flat.
That being said, the story overall was good, And was very fun.
Overall I definitely recommend this game, especially to Star Wars fans.
I had pretty good time with this game it really did a good job of blending the great aspects of other games into a single product. It felt like a hybrid of Uncharted and God of War and whilst it didn't do the platforming, combat or puzzles quite as well as the previously mentioned games it did a very serviceable job and left us with a great product.
Unfortunately for the most part the story fell pretty flat though which was the most disappointing part of this game. In the interest of keeping things spoiler free I won't go to far into it but overall the story feels quite inconsequential in the grand scheme of the Star Wars universe and even the main characters arcs feel very vanilla.
Whilst it might sound contradictory I do need to say that the ending was amazing even if for only one unexpected twist. It was a pure hype moment and would get any Star Wars fans blood pumping.
Setting that aside though I still highly recommend this game. Its fun to play, looks great and does a great job of showing off the Star Wars universe and making feel like your playing the …

As a Star Wars fan, there is a lot for me to love about "Jedi: Fallen Order." It combines the platforming of "Uncharted", the combat of "Sekiro/Dark Souls", the exploration of "Metroid/Castlevania", the puzzle solving of "Legend of Zelda", and the lore of "Star Wars."
As you progress through the game, you are able to learn new abilities in the skill tree that allow you to either master the force, learn new lightsaber abilities, or better your chances of survival. Exploring each of the planets will reward you for making the effort by finding additional stims for BD-01 to give you or relics that will extend your Force/Life meter. With this being a metroidvana, you will be backtracking to each of the planets to open more pathways within the story,
The issues I had with the game were that the parry system can be hit or miss in boss fights and that on the PC version, I experienced many performance issues on a Ryzen 1700x, GTX 1070ti, and 16 GBs of RAM. These issues made me drop the game for a period of time until I was able to get the game running smoothly by limiting the CPU through third-party …

Overall, this is one of the best "Star Wars" to come out in a while. I was disappointed in EA's treatment of the "Star Wars" license, but this game proves that EA can find a market for single-player games. I would love to see a sequel!
Had a really good time with this game, it is certainly something different and not what I expected. After the last two battlefront games by EA I had zero expectation that this would be good.
To my surprise the story was really good. I cared about the characters, and I felt this overwhelming urge to finish the game no matter how difficult it was. As they say, you just have to “git good.”
The one downside is definitely all of the stupid sliding sections and platform areas, it’s certainly not the game strong suit and I could’ve done without it. The climbing was fine but the sliding was so out of place and completely unnecessary.
Definitely looking forward to the next game, and I hope you get the choice to tap into the Dark Side, similar to Infamous.
Great Star Wars story, great characters, cool exploration amd fun Jedi powers. But i was fighting more than the Empire, I was fighting with the very physics and control of the game. Sometimes it was near impossible to dodge, parry, or heal. Had to put on story mode to get through and enjoy. Looking forward to Survivor though i hear it’s much improved. This one is B-tier
This title is a single-player action-adventure game from Respawn Entertainment that places players in the Star Wars universe shortly after the events of Revenge of the Sith. The MC is called Cal Kestis, a young Jedi Padawan, as he struggles to survive while rebuilding the Jedi Order. The game delivers a strong narrative with emotional character interactions, particularly between Cal and his droid companion, BD-1. It really tries to make you like the characters involved in the plot, but I find it hard to like them, in general they are not quite as likable as other similar to most narrative Sony titles, for example, which has a similar approach to their characters.
The combat system is precise and challenging, emphasizing timing, strategy, and mastery of both lightsaber duels and Force abilities. Exploration is a key component, with interconnected worlds that encourage backtracking with new abilities to uncover secrets and fully experience each planet. This Metroidvania-style design makes progression rewarding and keeps players engaged throughout the adventure. Some people even consider this a Soulslike due to it's difficulty level, and while I agree with this, I also think this is more of an adventure title, than an RPG one, since it's …

While the game excels in atmosphere and Star Wars authenticity, it has minor drawbacks. Some technical issues, such as inconsistent parrying mechanics and occasional frame drops, can disrupt the flow of combat. The story, although engaging, occasionally follows familiar Star Wars tropes, which may feel predictable to some players. Overall, this game is a captivating experience that successfully blends exploration, challenging combat, and narrative. Its immersive world and compelling gameplay make it a must-play for Star Wars fans and action-adventure enthusiasts alike.
I wanted to knock some Stormtroopers around with a lightsaber and I got to do that. I did enjoy the game quite a bit, but there were a few things that annoyed me. The way the levels are designed with no fast travel meant getting back to the ship was a frustrating experience. The hologram map was hard to make sense of at times. Some of the platforming jumps were annoying to pull off. The story and characters were just ok. Despite those things I had fun running around being a Jedi. If the second game is an improvement I’d be happy to play it.
I went into this game blind apart from seeing the rating on Steam and I'm glad I did.
I am not a fan of souls-like games cause I suck but thankfully, this game has a difficulty modifier. I got to enjoy the story throroughly and am ready to play the next one.
I hope you give this one a try!
This is a really solid effort from EA. I’m a casual Star Wars fan and enjoyed the Battlefront games but the single player modes left a lot to be desired. However Fallen Order delivers on this front. The story is immersive right from the beginning. The main character Cal is a little bland as he sets off on his quest, but he grows into the game as it progresses. In terms of the gameplay, I had so much fun with this. Wielding the lightsaber never gets old. But as you progress and learn new force skills; some of the combat sequences you have are highly entertaining. It’s also very challenging. I’m not ashamed to admit at certain points in the game I had to dial down the difficulty as it was quite punishing on your mistakes. There are customisation options in the game where you can modify your lightsaber, outfit etc. However i felt this was an area that could be built upon in future releases. I never really felt compelled to go and find loot as it was purely cosmetic and never really enhanced your character. Overall a really enjoyable game and I look forward to playing the sequel …

Read LessAs the title says! It's a very very fun Star Wars game to play. You will absolutely enjoy it if you enjoy Star Wars, action RPGs (like the Soulsborn games), and Metroidvania as well. The combat is very fun, and offers a great challenge especially on the Jedi Grandmaster difficulty. However, it's still a very fun game on the lower difficulties. The story is fine, nothing to write home about, but it's a fun space adventure with that aspect. The music is fitting, and the various environments are very well done, and interesting to explore, yet I will say it does get a bit dark in some areas, that I needed to adjust the brightness settings a couple of times.
This game was a slog to get through the early stages: with little health and no Force powers, it was a brutal beginning that I did not particularly enjoy. The game really started to pick up momentum for me about halfway through as I unlocked more and more abilities, and by the end I was one-hitting most enemies and throwing wave after wave of stormtroopers over the edge of cliffs. I found the characters pretty bland and the dialogue to be terrible, but there were a number of very cool story beats, including a finale that will probably always stay with me.
This game was so amazing. Really fun combat. Interesting story. Great voice acting. Gorgeous levels. Wonderful music and sound design. Could it be even better? Yes, I think so but only in niggling things. I didn't really like any of the cosmetics (wish I could've had some various Jedi robes to choose from and changed what the main character's face/hair looked like). Make the world even bigger and more open (fingers crossed for the sequel). It's even more impressive that the developer nailed this game so perfectly given that their prior games were such a different genre.
I love playing mediocre games with pretty graphics
i am just here for BD-1
story: 5/5 combat 5/5 gameplay 4/5 dialogue 5/5 graphics 4/5 atmospheric/immersive: yes surpassed expectations: yes
Initial level design was a challenge (you'll be swearing at the level designers for sure), but trust me that you'll ultimately get accustomed to how the designs work. Spending time in this game, learning to use the map, building up Cal's powers and learning how to fight effectively (it's a Souls-lite kind of game) is so worth sticking it out because the story that unfolds is damn satisfying when the credits roll at the end.
I 100%'d the game (spent 85 hours, though most people will do it far quicker) on Xbox Series X, had some minor audio desync towards the end that I would attribute to Quick Resume (closing and reloading fixed it, but I missed a cutscene that I had to look up and watch).
Fantastic game, can't wait to go through the sequel Jedi: Survivor (playing it on PC with some performance mods).
Historia: 4⭐
Jugabilidad: 5⭐
Done with almost half the game. At chapter 3: Zeffo and the tomb of Miktrull rn. Playtime target: One hour a day
I really wanted to give this game 4 stars, but it was so damn buggy that I just can't. Playing on an Xbox One S (2016), I kept running into issues such as enemies spawning in front of or behind me in a T-pose. Frequent-ish pauses for the game to load, and as the game went on, bugs got worse. I had one moment where it just crashed and I went back to the dashboard. Last night, I was wall running and after jumping off to land on ground, I fell through the world instead and died.
This definitely could've used some more patches as I don't think all of the issues are related to being on an older console. And this game came out in 2019, so my console was only 3 years old. Performance should've been better than it was.
Gave this a quick whirl this morning. Maybe played the first 30-45 minutes? Visually it’s beautiful and kind of digging the combat with the lightsaber and using the force. However it could be quite repetitive and get old quickly if the combat system doesn’t evolve somewhat. I like the traversal mechanics with the whole climbing, jumping, sliding etc too. Overall quite an enjoyable opening.
Not bad! I was scared the souls-like gameplay would be janky but the game flow was great, powers fun, and combat and exploration was fun. Highly recommended.
Let it be known that I am not a Star Wars fan. I don't really actively dislike it, for the record, I just flat out don't care about it. I appreciate and respect the original trilogy for its placement in film history, but other than that I really just don't care. That being said, it was a surprise even to me how much I enjoyed this. I finally beat it last night, and god was it a good time.
It controls so well (aside from some minor expected jankiness that comes with all games), and even though its clearly optimized for a newer console it ran on my Xbox One almost perfectly. Each level was distinct and unique, and it had some of the neatest boss encounters I've had in years outside of Hollow Knight. It had an excellent soundtrack, and for once, I actually genuinely liked the cast. Imagine that, a Star Wars product with a fully enjoyable cast! What a novelty.
So yeah, this was a delight, and I look forward to going through and getting all the collectibles, secrets and etc and perhaps getting 100% in this game achievement wise. It was really fun. That being said, …

That being said, I admit I turned down the difficulty to story mode, but perhaps not for the reason you might think. Let me explain. I always play things on normal, but as I've gotten older, and games have gotten longer, and I have less time to sit here and do the same thing for 8 hours at a time, I simply cannot replay sections of stuff for hours on end. I got through the first half if not more of the game on normal, but after that I asked myself, "Does this game have difficulty related achievements? No? Okay then" and put the difficulty down to story mode.
If there are difficulty related achievements, I will play the game as it requires to be played, but if there isn't, I think I'm just at the point in my life and gaming career where I just wanna get through things as quick as possible to move onto other things. It wasn't even cause the game (outside of the Trilla fights) was hard, because quite frankly it wasn't, it was more just to push it along faster. The only negative thing I wish I could say is that I wish - and I understand why there isn't - I could fast travel between meditation points, and I also hate the map with a burning passion and wish I could either have a compass or put waypoints. That's my only negative thing about this game.
And...despite not being a general fan of the franchise and IP as a whole, even I gotta say both my girlfriend and I were totally taken by surprise by the
Playing anything after the abomination that was Rise of the Tomb Raider is appreciating all the hard work put into these when the developers really care. That being said, as much fun as this is, my enjoyment is admittedly halted somewhat by just how much I hate Star Wars. It's a confusing feeling.
