very good amazing story great combat funny entertaining
I'm a big Star Wars fan, so I need to play every game that gets released. I had high hopes for this one, but I am left with mixed feelings.
The gameplay was great, fun combat really made you feel like a Jedi. Different lightsabre styles and forcepowers kept the fighting original. The story was okay, but lost the drive to go on here and there.
The main issue for me, and thats a personal thing, was that I just could not connect with the main character and the main squad. Cal and Cere were just not engaging and believable and I found myself having trouble to be interested in their problems.
This game is one of the Best Star Wars Games because of the Exploration, the Jedi Skills, the Customization and the Characters and I have my hopes Jedi: Survivor. My Rating: 9/10
I'm an average Star Wars fan. I've only played a few Star Wars games such as KoTOR, Rogue Squadron 1 & 2, and Shadows of the Empire. RS2 is one of my favorite games, because of the way it made you feel like you were playing in the movies. So here again I got a similar immersive feel, which is what I love about the game.
The graphics are incredible, granted I usually don't play games for the graphics, so there isn't much to compare to. The backgrounds were visually stunning. The level design is probably the best I've ever played, and felt organic. The enemies were creative and fun to beat, especially the bounty hunters later in the game. Using force abilities to beat easy enemies was...expected I guess, but still fun. Exploring a dead Venator Cruiser was very enjoyable. The combat was mostly fun, with a lot of up-gradable abilities. It wasn't what you would call an open world game, but it was not linear either with extensive areas to explore, which is my preferred depth. The story was even moderately good, which filled the void left by the crappy stories of the sequel trilogies.

However, there was room for improvement. The map was very similar to the Metroid Prime series, which had a fantastic 3D map system. SWJ:FO had a detailed map with highlighted areas showing doors or areas that could be explored or not reachable yet, which made exploration much easier. However, if your not positioned correctly physical features might obstruct the map. Your ability to zoom is limited, and as a result the map can be very confusing in the late game.
The gameplay was very reminiscent of the Batman Arkham games, the Middle-Earth Shadow games, and Zelda BoTW. There is a very similar parry system here, but it can be less intuitive than those other games. You would often have multiple enemies attacking at once, which made parrying difficult, even late in the game. Other times, it was difficult to tell if you successfully parried at all. Maybe that's just the realism of having multiple enemies attack you simultaneously, which didn't happen often in the other games. Attacks that could not be parried made dodging more necessary. It was still very enjoyable though, just frustrating at times, as other games felt more fluid. Although it is possible to beat some harder enemies quickly if you know how to parry and attack them correctly. It was also difficult to master all the abilities compared to other similar games.
While the graphics were incredible, there were common lighting glitches. This could have been related to my computer graphics card, but everything else was perfectly smooth. While I love the level design, I have a pet peeve in games like these where endless pits are everywhere. Almost every level is on a massive plateau with canyons deeper than the grand canyon. However I can see how this was good for gameplay and to display the backgrounds.
I had very mixed feelings about exploration to find things in this game. Of the six different objects you could interact with the most common were superficial customization elements such as ship paint jobs, poncho styles, and lightsaber modifications. There are over a hundred of these, and dozens of lightsaber customizations that ultimately are kind of silly, because you can't even see them while your fighting, except the color of your lightsaber. I get the feeling these might have been intended as purchasable content before the debacle with Battlefront 2. The second most common finds are force echos which allow Cal to sense something that happened in the past. Most of them involve some random storm trooper dying or some cultural observation, which often seem silly except they provide varying amounts XP. Similarly, your droid can scan enemies and things with cultural relevance, but they provide no XP. BD can also find and collect a few seeds to plant on your ship. The last two finds are actually the most useful, and the most difficult to find. There are ten stim upgrades allowing you to heal a percentage of health. There are also at least 3 secrets on each planet. If you get 3 your max health or force is upgraded.
I have another minor pet peeve, which is the level of diversity in Star Wars on the whole. While Marvel has become increasingly diverse in recent years, Star Wars seems to have lagged behind. The cast itself is diverse, but the main Jedi's continue to be white men, with few exceptions. I don't read the books, so I don't count those, but if you include the video games and tv series there are at least 10 white men as leading jedi (Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Anikan, Luke, Cal, Starkiller, Revan, Ezra, Kanan) compared to 5 that aren't white men, only one of which is currently a leading character (Mace, Yoda, Ashoka, Bastila and Rey). We could discuss villains, but it doesn't get any better. It should not take any effort to make a woman, alien, or person of color into the lead character of a video game. This is supposed to be an incredibly diverse universe with thousands of different alien species. You would think that more of the leading Jedi and Sith (I understand that the Empire was xenophobic, but KoTOR does this too) for that matter could be alien.
Overall, its surprisingly good considering that it was produced by EA around the same time as the Battlefront games.
I wasn't expecting much going into this game, cos I played Battlefront 2 which was horrendous. But this game turned out to be something completely different in the best possible way. At first I was really unhappy about non existent fast travel, but I ended up with Platinum including 100% discovery of every map in the game and I enjoyed getting it. The system of shortcuts you can open and unlock in the games is making it easier to backtrack on maps even to far away locations. I enjoyed the fight system, I loved characters and the story... this game really came as a big surprise and Im already excited for the next installment :)
First Star Wars game I ever played. This game is really fun, the combat is what kind of made me beat the game in the first place. The story is alright, nothing really THAT unique. Combat is just AMAZING and really feels awesome to beat up enemies with everything you got. The game feels similar to the Souls series in a way, the movement and overall atmosphere of the game is very similar to the Souls series. The game has it's bugs but nothing too game-breaking, I did manage to run into a few though. Overall I think the game is a 4/5 because the story is alright and that the game has quite a few bugs.

Honestly fantastic , its not very often you get a licensed game of this quality. If it means anything , it displays Respawns understanding of the player and is the reason they've not only been given a sequel but trusted with all EA Star Wars going forward. Metroidvania like level design that has you reusing and finding new ways to traversal the existing levels (which look stunning). Intuitive and genuinely difficult at times combat with opportunities to really use the game skills with one another.
I like BD1 and this isn't the first time Respawn have crafted an incredibly memorable robot companion dynamic. Really great , I'm leaning on a 8.5/10 but this won't let me give half stars.
I had put off this game for a long time due to my disdain for anything published by EA as well as hearing how hard it could be. I finally threw in the towel with the Star Wars hype around the release of the Obi-Wan TV show on Disney+ and downloaded it.
For the record I played this on Story Mode on the Xbox Series X as I’m personally not someone who plays games for a challenge but for the experience instead. I was surprised how well the game played in terms of gameplay but the same could not be said for the graphics. I had the game set to quality mode to start and experienced a lot of graphics popping and high resolution textures not loading so I moved over to the performance mode because I wanted a smooth 60fps. I did experience a lot of fps stutters, audio/video sync issues in cutscenes as well as graphics popping still in this mode. There was also an issue of characters clipping through scenery. It was not always obvious what scenery you could climb as well which resulted in me jumping against invisible walls quite a bit.

I heard a lot of complaints from people about how useless the map was, and where I can maybe see where they were coming from. I never really had much of an issue with it personally. However a “Fast-travel back to ship” would be VERY adventitious.
I’m not a completionist of games and will only aim to seek out collectables in games if they are within reach rather than me going out of my way to find them. If you approach this game with the same methodology of other games in regards to hidden items being: “look behind you in a starting area” or “see that other path that’s not the objective marker? Go look down there” then you’re gonna find most of the item boxes. The level design of Jedi: Fallen Order is that when you are casually roaming around an area the item chests stand out as they have glowing lights on them. Meaning you just need to figure out how to get to them. Most of the chests are all cosmetic upgrades so don’t have a massive benefit to the overall game unless you’re a completionist. I never had Cal wear his conchos as I thought they looked ridiculous so poncho skins were wasted on me. What I did love however, was customising my own lightsaber. I don’t know what other Star Wars game lets you do this but this was a first for me. My lightsaber ended up being gold plated with a purple crystal.
I really enjoyed my time with the game, didn’t really get too repetitive (well maybe the combat a bit) and it didn’t overstay its welcome. There are only a handful of planets and each can be explored within a single playthrough. This is the length games should be and have people wanting to go back for more and explore New Game+ modes.
Respawn es un estudio muy competente. Estamos ante un juego notable que mezcla la inspiración soulslike con el plataformeo y exploración de juegos como Tomb Raider. Le falta bastante profundidad mecánica y narrativa, quizá para el próximo.
EA making a good single player story without microtransactions?!?!?!? i though it impossible.

I love the difficulty and the level design but found the game to be lacking in combat and story. Hopefully the sequel will improve on this.
This game did the one thing you need for me to like something Star Wars, have interesting and well-written characters. I loved the protagonist, with his little droid, his small group of companions, and the villain was amazing. I was fully committed to the story, however, at times it did get a little too mythical. The visuals were also impressive, although at points there were a lot of framerate drops, bugs, and my game fully crashed twice. For a star wars game that I imagine had a decent budget, the game had an unsettling amount of bugs. However, that does not compete with the frustration I felt with the platforming. My character fell off ropes, walls, ledges, anything imaginable an insane amount of times. The platforming was the worst thing about the game with the bugs right behind it. Luckily the story and characters carried this game for me. If there is a sequel, I sure hope more time is spent on making the game more polished.

Realistically speaking this is a 3.5 stars game for me. While the premise of a Star Wars Souls-like sounded very much like my type of thing, somehow this title didn't fully convince me. It felt like it was trying to be too many things and "Uncharted Souls: Jedi Tomb Raider" wasn't quite what I expected. That said I quite enjoyed the story, it had a nice old-school SW feel to it.
I love playing mediocre games with pretty graphics
i am just here for BD-1
story: 5/5 combat 5/5 gameplay 4/5 dialogue 5/5 graphics 4/5 atmospheric/immersive: yes surpassed expectations: yes
Initial level design was a challenge (you'll be swearing at the level designers for sure), but trust me that you'll ultimately get accustomed to how the designs work. Spending time in this game, learning to use the map, building up Cal's powers and learning how to fight effectively (it's a Souls-lite kind of game) is so worth sticking it out because the story that unfolds is damn satisfying when the credits roll at the end.
I 100%'d the game (spent 85 hours, though most people will do it far quicker) on Xbox Series X, had some minor audio desync towards the end that I would attribute to Quick Resume (closing and reloading fixed it, but I missed a cutscene that I had to look up and watch).
Fantastic game, can't wait to go through the sequel Jedi: Survivor (playing it on PC with some performance mods).
Historia: 4⭐
Jugabilidad: 5⭐
Done with almost half the game. At chapter 3: Zeffo and the tomb of Miktrull rn. Playtime target: One hour a day
I really wanted to give this game 4 stars, but it was so damn buggy that I just can't. Playing on an Xbox One S (2016), I kept running into issues such as enemies spawning in front of or behind me in a T-pose. Frequent-ish pauses for the game to load, and as the game went on, bugs got worse. I had one moment where it just crashed and I went back to the dashboard. Last night, I was wall running and after jumping off to land on ground, I fell through the world instead and died.
This definitely could've used some more patches as I don't think all of the issues are related to being on an older console. And this game came out in 2019, so my console was only 3 years old. Performance should've been better than it was.
Gave this a quick whirl this morning. Maybe played the first 30-45 minutes? Visually it’s beautiful and kind of digging the combat with the lightsaber and using the force. However it could be quite repetitive and get old quickly if the combat system doesn’t evolve somewhat. I like the traversal mechanics with the whole climbing, jumping, sliding etc too. Overall quite an enjoyable opening.
Not bad! I was scared the souls-like gameplay would be janky but the game flow was great, powers fun, and combat and exploration was fun. Highly recommended.
Let it be known that I am not a Star Wars fan. I don't really actively dislike it, for the record, I just flat out don't care about it. I appreciate and respect the original trilogy for its placement in film history, but other than that I really just don't care. That being said, it was a surprise even to me how much I enjoyed this. I finally beat it last night, and god was it a good time.
It controls so well (aside from some minor expected jankiness that comes with all games), and even though its clearly optimized for a newer console it ran on my Xbox One almost perfectly. Each level was distinct and unique, and it had some of the neatest boss encounters I've had in years outside of Hollow Knight. It had an excellent soundtrack, and for once, I actually genuinely liked the cast. Imagine that, a Star Wars product with a fully enjoyable cast! What a novelty.
So yeah, this was a delight, and I look forward to going through and getting all the collectibles, secrets and etc and perhaps getting 100% in this game achievement wise. It was really fun. That being said, …

That being said, I admit I turned down the difficulty to story mode, but perhaps not for the reason you might think. Let me explain. I always play things on normal, but as I've gotten older, and games have gotten longer, and I have less time to sit here and do the same thing for 8 hours at a time, I simply cannot replay sections of stuff for hours on end. I got through the first half if not more of the game on normal, but after that I asked myself, "Does this game have difficulty related achievements? No? Okay then" and put the difficulty down to story mode.
If there are difficulty related achievements, I will play the game as it requires to be played, but if there isn't, I think I'm just at the point in my life and gaming career where I just wanna get through things as quick as possible to move onto other things. It wasn't even cause the game (outside of the Trilla fights) was hard, because quite frankly it wasn't, it was more just to push it along faster. The only negative thing I wish I could say is that I wish - and I understand why there isn't - I could fast travel between meditation points, and I also hate the map with a burning passion and wish I could either have a compass or put waypoints. That's my only negative thing about this game.
And...despite not being a general fan of the franchise and IP as a whole, even I gotta say both my girlfriend and I were totally taken by surprise by the
Playing anything after the abomination that was Rise of the Tomb Raider is appreciating all the hard work put into these when the developers really care. That being said, as much fun as this is, my enjoyment is admittedly halted somewhat by just how much I hate Star Wars. It's a confusing feeling.
