Fun game, especially if you're a Star Wars fan. A mix of Souls type games and Uncharted/Tomb Raider gameplay-wise. Still, felt like a breath of fresh air after the Disney movies. An entertaining Star Wars property like The Mandalorian tv series. The story takes a while to get going and ends rather quickly after picking up steam but it's still a nice journey with some great moments/sequences. Enjoyed the characters.
The music is great, felt reminiscent of the music from Star Wars. The usage of some old tracks at key moments was dope.
Loved this song from The Hu which plays a couple of times in the game. Feels right in the universe. Good stuff.
Great work by Respawn on the game, I hope they make another one.
Story, acting, writing, and music were all fine. Environments looked pretty great, though character models—especially the wookies, good lord—are uneven to bad.
Combat and gameplay?
Shit. Utter, total, shit. My first and last Respawn game, for sure. The camera is idiotic, and the actual dodging, parrying, and fighting is just bland, repetitive, and genuinely not engaging at any difficulty level. At its hardest it's a strain for what feels like too little benefit; at its easiest difficulty, it is too annoying/aggravating to plough through just for the sake of what's honestly a paper-thin narrative even by Star Wars standards.
I don't often put down game unfinished, but I made it about halfway—passed the second fight with Second Sister, when you learn who she really is—and just realized... I haven't had a lick of fun with this game, not one. And this from someone who generally enjoys the Uncharted games (mentioning this because the traversal is basically identical).
All told, a genuine disappointment in every way. Not worth the money, and certainly not worth the time.
You've heard it before but there are some really surprising flaws to this game, and unfortunately all the good elements are things you already saw somewhere else.
Pros :
Cons :
All of the game is copied from others (Uncharted and Darksouls mostly) so it never feels original or new. Do we really need campfires in a Star Wars game? The progression system is also terrible. An Infamous style good/bad force would have been so much funnier.
Controls can be clunky some times, which is not okay in 2019
Most of the boss fights are garbage, it's basically just cheese until you can land a counter attack. I get that some people like that, but it's not what I want out of a star wars game. It's even more disappointing after seeing super great gameplay and boss fights in this gen action games (God of War, Spider-man, NieR, Monster Hunter ...).
The story is bland and uninspired
Overall quite disappointed in this game
If you have played Tomb Raider series you know already how similar the gameplay is. This is necessarily not a bad thing The story is nothing original and it's your good old typical Star Wars light side vs dark side. But damn its beautiful to look at. Now if only the 90% of gameplay didn't happen vertically i would have enjoyed it much more. My palms get sweaty from all the platform jumping. 4/5 stars.
We live in a time when Star Wars is basically inundated with new content. The sequel trilogy, Rogue One, Solo, Rebels, Resistance, the Clone Wars (again), Battlefront, The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan, and a whole assortment of books, comics and tie-ins. And the problem with having so much content is that a lot of it isn’t very good. And it’s not always the ones you expect. Those sequels: that’s where they’re bound to put in all their effort, right? Yet somehow they’re painfully generic; a remix of ideas rather than anything new. How about a sequel to one of the most popular Star Wars games of all time? Yeah, let’s make the levels tiny, remove story mode, and then throw out a sequel where you’re basically drowning in microtransactions.
Okay, I think everyone could guess Solo was gonna suck. Score one for easy predictions.
So the good news here is that this is very much one of the good ones. Like a lot of the best tales in this new galaxy the plot here doesn’t try to be big and central and surrounded by familiar faces. There are a few, most notably Saw Gerrara, but they fit in well to the plot …

So the good news here is that this is very much one of the good ones. Like a lot of the best tales in this new galaxy the plot here doesn’t try to be big and central and surrounded by familiar faces. There are a few, most notably Saw Gerrara, but they fit in well to the plot and there’s no indication that your actions will be more than a footnote in their diary. Instead, the focus is very personal. Cal is a former Padawan living as a scrapper about five years after Order 66. And then suddenly his relatively mundane life gets blown away and he finds himself with a new crew seeking a Jedi holocron with a list of all the Force-sensitive children in the galaxy. Plenty of future Jedi to rebuild the fallen order. There are some sillier elements as well, most notably the apparently obligatory lost civilization whose ruins you need to visit to recover the holocron for some reason.
If I’m focusing a lot on plot and characters that’s because that was the part of the game that is the most impressive. After all, you don’t buy a Star Wars game if the universe doesn’t interest you, right? The gameplay is rather more mixed. The basic structure is that of Dark Souls, with checkpoints that respawn enemies and a maze-like level design. While Dark Soulsish, the difficulty has been dialed back substantially. You can ramp it up high enough to be challenging, but you can dial it down to almost zero with story mode. That’s not a bad thing to me. I hate games that force me to play them a certain way. However, the Dark Souls system can be a bit of a rough fit for a Star Wars game. Why, for example, are you encouraged to get revenge on the enemy who last killed you? Each enemy requires a distinct strategy, although Force powers can be super OP when used right. Deflecting blaster bolts can be highly satisfying.
While the gameplay and story are mostly good, the game can get a little frustrating. The levels are labyrinthine and trying to navigate them with the help of a holomap is not particularly intuitive. There’s no quick jump from campsites, so if you’re looking for items in a specific level your only way to achieve it is to work your way through the whole level again. Ditto when the story returns you to the same planet. I found my memory wasn’t up to remembering the exact route I had followed if I took a break, so six-hour or more sessions became a requirement.
This is the best Star Wars game in a long time. The story is interesting, the characters fun, the worlds inventive and distinctive, and the gameplay challenging but fun. I look forwards to the inevitable sequel.
Let me start this by saying that I have never cared about Star Wars. I was the jerk who said "oh it's overhyped, who cares, blah blah blah". (Doesn't it suck to look back on yourself and realize you were that guy?)
Anyways, my friend bought me this game for Christmas and that made me feel obligated to play it. Him and I always talk progress in our games, so I wanted him to know that I appreciated the gift. I started it with little to no expectations, aside from what little I had heard from various internet sources(Spawn Wave I'm looking at you).
I was immediately impressed with the presentation of the game. No, it's not perfect, or the most beautiful game ever made or anything like that, but it looks and plays great. And the first time you swing the lightsaber(dare i say it), you FEEL like a jedi. Nah, but seriously, the combat feels great most of the time, and the progression system is paced well enough that you learn your new moves before you get new ones. I never felt overwhelmed by options there.

The story is nothing to write home about, but it has some compelling characters, and I am a big Cal Kestis fan now. Dude is badass. Did I mention BD-1? I LOVE BD-1. What a great little droid. We must protect him at all costs.
If you're looking for a sci-fi souls-like that isn't too hard, definitely give this a try. Especially with how often it goes on sale. I think I've seen it for like $5 on steam? That's a steal for this game. I'm going to be picking up the sequel ASAP.
I am really glad I had the opportunity to experience this game. I am never drawn to this type of game since combat is really not my cup of tea. But I was curious about the story and characters which is why I was so relieved and appreciative of the option to play in story mode. Even though the enemies were less aggressive and dealt less damage it was still so amazing to take on the mantel of a Jedi and embark on the journey to take down the Empire.
The gameplay mechanics were so well done. Running, climbing, and fighting with the light saber all felt so smooth and well executed. Each environment was beautifully crafted in my opinion and made me feel immersed in each different world that was explored. All of that just helped to increase my interest in the story which is where this game really shined for me. I can't say I am the biggest fan of Star Wars but I know and follow along with the overall story of the series casually. Overall, I really enjoyed my time with this game. I definitely didn't explore every nook and cranny this game had to offer but what I did see was amazing and I really enjoyed the main plot that was being told throughout the game. It left me interested to see what the sequel is going to bring to the table.
The best thing about Jedi Fallen Order is that everything it suffers from can (and hopefully will) be easily fixed in the upcoming sequel. The start of the game is definitely the weakest point, where the somewhat buggy and often imprecise movement through the world is really all the game has going. But if you're willing to get through those frustrating early chapters of dying more often to wall runs than to stormtroopers, mid and late game reward you with incredibly fun abilities and a really wonderful story. I think of the follow up game just dials back a bit on some of the more ~obtuse~ puzzles and cleans up precision it'll be an EASY 5/5
I had a good time with this game. I had a little trouble with the controls and camera at times, but nothing major.
It's really weird that you spend most of your time killing animals, and that your force meter fills up from killing things. Just weird little not really how Jedi work things. But I had a really good time exploring the worlds, and enjoyed the story it was telling.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is not only a great Star Wars game, it’s just a great game in general. It’s hard to believe that Respawn Entertainment, the same people who made Apex Legends and Titanfall 2, were able to make such an awesome action/adventure hack and slash game especially when you consider that this is their first attempt at that genre - they’ve historically only have done first person shooter games.
The story was easy to follow, the supporting cast and main character Cal Testes was excellent, the gameplay was engaging for the most part, and honestly… I would probably group this game up with The Mandalorian series, in a sense that even if you’re not a big fan of Star Wars, you will probably enjoy this game - it’s able to stand on its own, I mean having knowledge of the Star Wars series is beneficial, but it really isn’t required.
Unfortunately, as much praise as I have given the game, there are quite a few glaring flaws I can’t ignore. And it could just be the PS5 version, but the game had quite a few bugs - even more so towards the end. Texture popping, animation issues …

Texture popping, animation issues with characters doing strange things like standing in their seats, or characters initiating dialogue thinking that they’re outside the ship, when they’re actually inside the ship and they aren’t even facing each other - there were some weird things I saw… and can’t unsee.
As great as the game is, I just feel like Respawn Entertainment should have spent a little more time further refining the game a bit more - again this could just be the PS5 version though. Makes me wonder how the game was at launch….
I know this game is kind of divisive and all of the major complaints I agree with, but there was still enough fun for me to end up really enjoying my time with the game.
Let me preface this by saying that I've never played a soulsborne-like game at all and typically shy away from games that are "fun because of the challenge". I also have never played Uncharted and only played one of the new Tomb Raider's years ago.
The game started incredibly slow for me. I sucked at the combat and didn't love the exploration side of it, but I was pulled along by the fact that it was a unique Star Wars story and I wanted to see what happened.
Some point around Kashykk this all flipped on its head and I stopped really caring about what was a slightly boring story and really enjoyed using my skills to navigate the planets and really started savoring tough combat engagements. While I used to cheese some of the tougher non-boss fights, I started getting the hang of it and having a lot of fun fighting 10 troopers.

I kept it on Jedi Master the whole time and ended up really loving the final 2 boss fights even though they took me about 10-20 tries each.
Agreed with everything about the horrific maps and backtracking and I also found the combat was sometimes not as responsive as I would have wanted. These things kept me from 100%ing the game after beating the final boss.
I would eat a spiritual sequel up if one came out.
The best Star Wars game of the generation. It's obvious from the get-go that it borrows heavily from other games, notably Dark Souls and Uncharted. This can be frustrating at first but once you get past those initial qualms, there's a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding game waiting for you.
Entertaining combat, great performance and visuals even on "high" settings on slightly older hardware (GTX 1060), a fresh story set in an interesting Star Wars era with lots of unique nods to both the prequels and the original trilogy and even a brief deep cut location cameo from the Disney trilogy. Neat unlockables - loved customizing my lightsaber.
Weak points include the dialogue between characters at times (prequel bad in places), and limited replayability unless you like collecting things. Hopefully some story DLC comes in the future.
Totally worth the small sale price of admission I paid for the ~20 hours of entertainment. Not sure I would pay full price though.
I love playing mediocre games with pretty graphics
i am just here for BD-1
story: 5/5 combat 5/5 gameplay 4/5 dialogue 5/5 graphics 4/5 atmospheric/immersive: yes surpassed expectations: yes
Initial level design was a challenge (you'll be swearing at the level designers for sure), but trust me that you'll ultimately get accustomed to how the designs work. Spending time in this game, learning to use the map, building up Cal's powers and learning how to fight effectively (it's a Souls-lite kind of game) is so worth sticking it out because the story that unfolds is damn satisfying when the credits roll at the end.
I 100%'d the game (spent 85 hours, though most people will do it far quicker) on Xbox Series X, had some minor audio desync towards the end that I would attribute to Quick Resume (closing and reloading fixed it, but I missed a cutscene that I had to look up and watch).
Fantastic game, can't wait to go through the sequel Jedi: Survivor (playing it on PC with some performance mods).
Historia: 4⭐
Jugabilidad: 5⭐
Done with almost half the game. At chapter 3: Zeffo and the tomb of Miktrull rn. Playtime target: One hour a day
I really wanted to give this game 4 stars, but it was so damn buggy that I just can't. Playing on an Xbox One S (2016), I kept running into issues such as enemies spawning in front of or behind me in a T-pose. Frequent-ish pauses for the game to load, and as the game went on, bugs got worse. I had one moment where it just crashed and I went back to the dashboard. Last night, I was wall running and after jumping off to land on ground, I fell through the world instead and died.
This definitely could've used some more patches as I don't think all of the issues are related to being on an older console. And this game came out in 2019, so my console was only 3 years old. Performance should've been better than it was.
Gave this a quick whirl this morning. Maybe played the first 30-45 minutes? Visually it’s beautiful and kind of digging the combat with the lightsaber and using the force. However it could be quite repetitive and get old quickly if the combat system doesn’t evolve somewhat. I like the traversal mechanics with the whole climbing, jumping, sliding etc too. Overall quite an enjoyable opening.
Not bad! I was scared the souls-like gameplay would be janky but the game flow was great, powers fun, and combat and exploration was fun. Highly recommended.
Let it be known that I am not a Star Wars fan. I don't really actively dislike it, for the record, I just flat out don't care about it. I appreciate and respect the original trilogy for its placement in film history, but other than that I really just don't care. That being said, it was a surprise even to me how much I enjoyed this. I finally beat it last night, and god was it a good time.
It controls so well (aside from some minor expected jankiness that comes with all games), and even though its clearly optimized for a newer console it ran on my Xbox One almost perfectly. Each level was distinct and unique, and it had some of the neatest boss encounters I've had in years outside of Hollow Knight. It had an excellent soundtrack, and for once, I actually genuinely liked the cast. Imagine that, a Star Wars product with a fully enjoyable cast! What a novelty.
So yeah, this was a delight, and I look forward to going through and getting all the collectibles, secrets and etc and perhaps getting 100% in this game achievement wise. It was really fun. That being said, …

That being said, I admit I turned down the difficulty to story mode, but perhaps not for the reason you might think. Let me explain. I always play things on normal, but as I've gotten older, and games have gotten longer, and I have less time to sit here and do the same thing for 8 hours at a time, I simply cannot replay sections of stuff for hours on end. I got through the first half if not more of the game on normal, but after that I asked myself, "Does this game have difficulty related achievements? No? Okay then" and put the difficulty down to story mode.
If there are difficulty related achievements, I will play the game as it requires to be played, but if there isn't, I think I'm just at the point in my life and gaming career where I just wanna get through things as quick as possible to move onto other things. It wasn't even cause the game (outside of the Trilla fights) was hard, because quite frankly it wasn't, it was more just to push it along faster. The only negative thing I wish I could say is that I wish - and I understand why there isn't - I could fast travel between meditation points, and I also hate the map with a burning passion and wish I could either have a compass or put waypoints. That's my only negative thing about this game.
And...despite not being a general fan of the franchise and IP as a whole, even I gotta say both my girlfriend and I were totally taken by surprise by the
Playing anything after the abomination that was Rise of the Tomb Raider is appreciating all the hard work put into these when the developers really care. That being said, as much fun as this is, my enjoyment is admittedly halted somewhat by just how much I hate Star Wars. It's a confusing feeling.
